Thanks to the Comox Valley Regional District & past Chair Will Cole-Hamilton for backing our call for fair federal funding for BC Ferries which carries 22M+ passengers/year, yet gets only about 3% fed operating support. With fares facing major hikes in 2028, Ottawa needs to stop shortchanging BC.

The oil industry is unwilling to pay for this pipeline because even they know the world is moving away from fossil fuels. This project leaves Canadians bearing all the risks of a bad investment without any of the rewards.

An important endorsement for fair federal funding for BC Ferries. The Capital Regional District, representing about 460,000 people, says ferry service is “not optional but a critical lifeline.”Coastal communities are united: B.C. deserves its fair share. Go here to learn more: gordjohns.ca

As NDP Health Critic, I was proud to table petition E-7298, signed by 22K+ Canadians, for a refundable federal tax credit for nurses. Canada needs to recruit, retain and support the nurses our public health system depends on. New Democrats will keep fighting for them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYMn...

Throwing billions in public money behind a pipeline at a time of climate breakdown – while sweeping aside environmental protections, meaningful Indigenous consultation and workers’ right to strike – is absolutely not in the national interest.

S..

@SMohyeddin • 10h = NATIONAL POST None of this applies, however, when a Jewish person presents a clear and present danger to the Jewish community. When that happens, Jewish thought is much more forceful: you must prevent the perpetrator from causing harm. Jewish law developed two character sketches to describe such scenarios. The first is known as a "mosar" — a Jewish person who informs to oppressive authorities, potentially leading to the imprisonment, torture or death of community members. The second, called a "rodef," refers to a Jew who is actively pursuing another with the intent to harm or kill them. In both scenarios, the law is clear that a jew is duty-bound to step in. Protecting the community and its members is the most important thing. 244

Out today and reminded just how fortunate we are to live among such incredible wildlife and nature. These lands and waters sustain wild salmon, bears and our communities. So much worth protecting for generations to come.

B.C.’s ferries move people, goods and our economy. Yet federal operating support is just $1.63 per passenger, compared with about $291 on federally supported East Coast ferries. The BC Chamber backs my motion M-35. It’s time for Ottawa to recognize BC Ferries as national infrastructure.

New Democrats fought hard to help create the Emergency Treatment Fund. It was a start, but nowhere near enough to meet the scale of the toxic drug crisis. Now its future beyond March 2027 is uncertain. Communities saving lives need long-term, predictable funding, not another Liberal funding cliff.
