My dad (born 1935) was exactly the same. The Goons (obvs) but especially Perrin which he built up so much when news of a repeat was announced (I must have been about 10 or 11). He wisely sold it to me as being about a man who thinks about his M-I-L being a hippo. Thankfully his hype was worth it
