Mikel Arteta and his staff have extended their contracts at Arsenal through to 2030. If Arteta sees it out he will be the third longest serving manager in Arsenal's history, fourth in Premier League.

From Etihad's "RESPONSE TO CLAIMS RAISED ABOUT STATE-OWNED AIRLINES" filed with the US gov. in 2015. "The assertion that the Abu Dhabi government paid for Etihad’s sponsorship of English Premier League football club Manchester City is [...] false".
The assertion that the Abu Dhabi government paid for Etihad’s sponsorship of English Premier League football club Manchester City is equally false. In 2011, Etihad and Manchester City entered into a 10 year sponsorship agreement, which included naming rights for Manchester City’s stadium. Etihad funded this sponsorship from its own liquidity. It is not uncommon for airlines to have sponsorships with sports teams and their venues.

The Treasury Committee has formally contacted HMRC regarding the potential tax consequences stemming from the Premier League's ongoing investigation into Manchester City. (Rob Harris)
The Treasury Committee has formally contacted HMRC regarding the potential tax consequences stemming from the Premier League's ongoing investigation into Manchester City.
You will be aware of the recent publication of the Premier League’s Independent Commission’s Core Decision on its investigation into Manchester City Football Club Ltd. That Core Decision, regarding “well over 100 individual breaches of the Premier League Rules across the course of many seasons”¹, contains the following findings:
"In essence a significant part of the remuneration that we find was payable by the Club to [redacted] in return for the services that [redacted] was contracted to provide to the Club [redacted]

a) Was not recorded in [redacted] employment contract (or elsewhere) as a liability of the Club or as being payable by the Club, but

b) Was instead recorded in a Consultancy Agreement between [redacted] and [redacted].

*The [redacted] thus concealed the true extent of the Club's liabilities for [redacted]."*²

The Commission found that the Club “utilised devices” (such as the above) “to disguise the true extent of certain Club liabilities”³, which were found to be “shams and/or did not reflect the economic substance of the arrangements that in fact existed.”⁴
Can you confirm to the Committee that HMRC is aware of these findings (pending appeal)?
Have you asked for, and/or been provided with the unredacted version of this report?
While I acknowledge that taxpayer confidentiality may inhibit what you can disclose, I would welcome reassurance from HMRC that you are seized of the importance of these issues and the public interest in the case.

David Ornstein reports that the legal battle is expanding beyond top-flight teams. Lower-tier clubs are active, appointing lawyers and discussing a potential unprecedented CLASS ACTION lawsuit against Manchester City. If realized, this would be a first in English, European, and world sports history.

If this leak about the PL clubs not evicting Man City for commercial reasons is true, the PL clubs lose a lot of the moral high ground. Just for once, how about don’t do exactly what Man City did and put money before your integrity.

I think this will be one of the defining images of the Premier League's void years: a proudly working class fanbase celebrating that the ruling family of an oppressive regime had hired a barrister on £10,000-an-hour to try and prevent them suffering consequences for their cheating. Embarrassing.
A bunch of mugs celebrating their perceived impunity

Rui Pinto, the man behind the Football Leaks website, has posted a detailed allegation about Gianni Infantino’s role in UEFA’s handling of Manchester City and PSG in 2014, citing material revealed through Football Leaks. These are Pinto’s claims, and they’re worth reading in full below.
Screenshot of a post by verified account Rui Pinto (@RuiPinto_FL), dated 30 September 2026. Pinto alleges that Gianni Infantino, while UEFA General Secretary in 2014, improperly intervened in investigations into Manchester City and PSG, sharing confidential documents and helping both clubs avoid potentially harsher sanctions. He says the details were revealed through Football Leaks and concludes that Infantino has become “a cancer on football” who should have no place in the game’s future. Very interesting, but debatable take. In global terms, despite the glut of titles*, Man City are now tainted to such an extent that their commercial value will have nosedived anyway; and it's not as if the PL would suddenly lose its main/only locomotive, like Serie A did when Juve were demoted.

Some interesting stuff on Sky this morning. Premier League clubs have to vote to expel City. Three quarters of them have to vote for it. 15/19. And already, off the record conversations with club execs suggest that they won't get to that number because of the negative economic impact of doing so.

City knew before their £400m+ spending spee in the summer is not a good look for the Premier League. Sanctions have to hit this season, the chance of them winning the League this season when everyone knows now they are guilty of cheating causes huge damage to the integrity of the competition.

Any discussion of sanctions have to be based on the facts that: 1. City knowingly, deliberately, proudly defrauded the competition for over a decade. 2. City publicly undermined the Premier League's democratic right to hold them to the agreed laws of the competition.

All of this is true, but it also extends to this season. City, told they’d been found guilty, chucked another £450m into their squad; we had to sell Martinelli to generate income. We are trying to retain a title against the biggest cheats in history with a less-deep squad because we didn’t cheat.
