One could argue that IBC and NFPA have been “vibe coding” for decades, but this is next level.

The fight for Election Day Registration in MA is 18 years old now, meaning that it is now old enough to be shut out from voting on Election Day due to a clerical error that could be fixed with Election Day Registration.

Galling how they drew stairs on the entrance to the new building even though any new building of that size would be wheelchair accessible. They don’t want to draw attention to the suffering their conservatism would preserve.

We do it on Moving Day because Massachusetts‘ leaders hate democracy and look down on renters.

It’s primary day in Massachusetts! It’s also the day that ~70% of leases in Boston are up, meaning a huge number of people are moving today. @massdems.bsky.social schedule this on purpose to disenfranchise people of lower economic classes and younger adults.

"Low-emission zones," where car traffic is restricted, save lives -- especially the lives of children. The empirical evidence is unambiguous. But every attempt to create a new one is met by hysterical opposition filled with lies, because our societies are collectively poisoned by car-brain.

London’s low emission zone is working – so why are cities around the world so cautious about clean air?
Similar initiatives have been launched from Barcelona to Bogotá, but they have misinformation, political pressure and vested interests stacked against them

Camberville finally has some trail-oriented retail… and no trail. @cornhundred.bsky.social tipped us off to Art’s Creamery (so good!), open for two months next to the Community Path which has been closed for nine-ish months. Stop by and support them during what must be a tough opening season.

Fare-free public transit is a poison pill for anything other than lifeline service. The scariest thing is that I think the Democrats proposing it might understand and want that.

I would think most transit agencies don’t do traffic signals, sewer relocation, other utilities, etc. in house. Usually they don’t own those assets.

No. This thinking needs to change. Apartments are homes and should not be thought of merely as buffers between busy roads and 'real' neighbourhoods. Just stop. www.therecord.com/news/waterlo...
Text: This follows a public meeting where neighbourhood critics told city council that denser housing does not belong near their detached houses, but should be directed instead to busier roads, closer to transit and closer to other buildings that are taller.

I’m very sympathetic to your point here. To try to understand the impatient side, I would say that while *material* change takes time, Democrats aren’t even expeditiously changing *policy* in the places they control. i.e. Legalizing ADUs is extremely small ball for the housing problems we face.

Your own pictures don’t support your hypothesis, meanwhile the building you are hating on allows people with disabilities to exist as equals in society whereas the one you recommend casts them out and makes full interaction in the community impossible. Stop it.

Realizing that the stacked townhouses built in Ontario since the mid-80s (like my home) are basically a housing category invented as a way to avoid the cost cliff imposed by going from 3 to 4 storeys in the Ontario Building Code has been an unpleasant eye opening experience.

Basically every city in Massachusetts makes people with mobility challenges wait endlessly for accessible apartments by blocking them indefinitely with their zoning codes. I appreciate the AG for this move, but the big challenge is that elevator buildings are made illegal by our local politicians.

"Kansas City Council voted to eliminate...minimum parking requirements across much of the city. The old rules drove up construction costs, kept storefronts empty & made it harder to build affordable housing. This is how we build a more walkable, more affordable Kansas City" – Mayor Quinton D. Lucas
An aerial photo of a barren, treeless, and largely empty parking lot on a corner parcel. The caption reads "Since 1951, KC has required every new building to include a minimum amount of parking. That rule made it harder to open small businesses and drove up housing costs. Yesterday, the City Council changed that."

Complete replacement of existing neighborhoods with buildings like this will radically transform life for people with disabilities. I can (maybe) visit 10% of homes in the Boston area safely. I want a neighborhood character where I can accept a dinner party invitation without a second thought.
