I was going over some of the trends/eras of illustration with my students today and Corporate Memphis created the most conversation. It was compared to a business man in a happy face mask, Arial & pop music. Good in contexts like brightening up a train station, bad in masking the cruelness of tech.

CARDTOBER 2/??? - es megop i missed the old man yaoi, it's been too long!!! #megop #transformers

that too!! it's such bizarre reasoning

omg for real like most non-beginners are gonna whip out full 3d construction lines for a design like this. i'm not even disputing that the sketch is ai, as ai bros have moved on to generating "progress" videos/sketches as "proof", but this just isn't a good reason

000

oh just to be clear, this screenshot was just something i saw in passing, no one has accused me of using ai thankfully! but yes, i completely agree

also in less annoying news, i'm going to orlando TWICE in the next two months: first to TFcon as an attendee, then holiday matsuri as a vendor! 🎉

for real, no amount of public shaming is going to change ai bros' fundamental perspective on this. i wish we could direct that energy at the entities that empower them to do this corny shit

020

i saw this the other day and i was like...yeah there are some points there about the short strokes of the sketch, but i don't draw with a structural sketch 98% of the time and my lines aren't always clean lol. what tf do they even mean by "measuring". i don't know how this helps anyone

we were warned it'd get good enough that most people can't clock the tells. we are there, unfortunately. i struggle with this a lot!

lukewarm take but i think ai witch hunting is profoundly unhelpful, doesn't do anything to drive slopmongers out, and just hurts artists who: 1) were stolen from in the first place, or 2) are beginners whose mistakes can get confused with ai fuck ups

If you're invested enough in the online art community that you want to call out suspected AI but you don't know how to read post dates and you don't recognize Loish, of all people, then I think your motives are suspect, actually.

If you think an artist's style looks like AI but you can scroll back through their portfolio and see them doing the same work before 2020, congrats, you're not looking at an AI grifter. You're looking at one of the original victims whose entire style AI stole.
