This news is important because all the fucks out there actively attempting to wreck the world want you to think that the work is hopeless and just mitigating the worst case scenario. It's not. Fucking keep going.

I made a dozen collages based on walking York city walls to go with a poem sequence. They didn't quite fit the text - developed their own language which wasn't that of the poems - so I dropped them. But they have a logic and appeal of their own, nevertheless, so here's #1, the rest to follow ...

This gorgeous item arrived a couple of days ago. Crammed with Kelvin Corcoran's soaring lyricism and fabulously illustrated, by David Rees. Small enough to fit in a jacket pocket, too, so it'll be with me wherever I go for the next few weeks. A gem of a book in every sense, from Musicaliet.

'The rain it raineth every day' (Twelfth Night), and it rained yesterday evening too, with a vengeance. Here's the downpour at 7.30ish from the portico of York Station. So heavy, me and a friend had to cancel a planned pint together in town - better drouth than drowning!

Apologies, all, for the long Bluesky silence. But just to say I'm going to try harder to make this account work in future, by posting stuff and making it my main social media outlet. The others, you hardly need telling, are rotten with ads, promotions, and claptrap. More to follow, watch this space.

Labour could tax the super-rich to end poverty, build social housing and fix our NHS. They are choosing to go after the worst-off instead. For a while, many people didn’t know what this government stood for. They do now: tough choices for the poor, endless money for war.

Two salty seadogs in sou'westers, oilskins and wellies, standing on a seaside promontory, looking at a sailing ship venturing out into heavy rain, wind and turbid waves. Coming from the boat is a speech balloon with a few musical notes in it, and the words "...I've been driving in my car. It isn't quite a Jag-u-ar..." One of the seadogs is pointing at it and commenting "It's Madness going to sea in weather like this."
