Being re-radicalized about Forest Park Blue Line slow zones after riding it this morning for work. It's beyond offensive that CTA has let that branch devolve into what it is right now. I know iterative fixes aren't ideal but my Lord you cannot tell me nothing can be done.

Intrigued to hear the theory! But we've also been using cell phones for 25+ years (smartphones for about 20) so something shifted over time. People have had makeup/sweaty face/earwax for much longer.

The urge to talk into the bottom of the phone then flip it around to hear while in speakerphone mode *while out in public* must be studied. Is this how people use their phones at home too?

Objectively hilarious to complain about a thing becoming too popular. Don't we want the people out enjoying things? OOPS, that's too many people! This is the NIMBY version reaction for street festivals.

Differences between suburbs and city aside, my suburb puts portapotties along our prairie path from spring thru fall and it's such a great thing for everyone. Maybe not very sexy, but they get the job done!

Please please please stop making a big deal out of the G7 reserves release. Yes, it’s 100 million barrels over 4 months. We - the planet - use 100 million barrels of crude every…single…day. Almost literally a drop in the bucket.

More than ever, we need more walkable neighborhoods. The rapid rise of WFH and Covid generally breaking modern society means a *lot* of people touch grass way less often than they used to. A 20-minute walk, even to nowhere in particular, can do wonders.

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”
APStylebook @APStylebook

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.
