true, but consider you have over a decade of app store experience. trying to navigate that landscape raw is pretty rough; definitely add a few months & thousands of dollars if it's not a familiar platform.

ime even "playtest/wip" events usually dissolve into chats; too few booths per game, lots of watching & not playing. i agree, has to be a rigorous rotation and a stricter focus. current model for these things ("casual expo") don't really work, or are at least not as productive as they could be.

I was on sick leave after having surgery when I was dismissed from Rockstar Games in a 2 minute phone call. No warning. No evidence. No chance to respond. In 2 minutes I lost my job, forcing Steph to quit hers, our home, our community, and most importantly, our dogs. iwgb.org.uk/en/post/fina...

Where's my fucking open-source image editing tool that actually competes with Photoshop? Where's my Wayland compositor that genuinely doesn't suck? Where's my fix for every NVidia driver problem on Linux? You keep saying how great these tools are then making nothing good with them!

it's been a while but i remember music apps like iTunes having "tiny-mode" players that turn into a desktop widget with playback controls.

sounds good but it's probably too niche? there's an unofficial bandcamp desktop app, though I haven't used it - local music apps (i.e. non-streaming) like foobar2k are basically complete.

been sketching for a custom type commission!
sketches of type with a fantasy styling (project: "Amphisbaena"). serif type with a fixed with, flowing paths, and ornaments at ends. negative space is used to add detail, so paths look like they're weaving in and out. white type over black background.

characters included so far:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
1234567890
&@*$#"
%+-=.,:;

The joy of learning anything nowadays truly feels like a tiny miracle to be cherished and carefully nurtured because the hellish purgatory of slop one needs to wade through in order to find any decent reliable free information online nowadays truly puts to test one's willpower 🫠

Also real talk, I do think GDscript is a significant win for Godot and if you're coming into it, even if you are used to and like C#, you should give gdscript a shot. The language is somewhat lightweight, like the engine itself, but being specifically designed for game development is a win.

I thought it'd be cool to throw in a bitwise not button to invert all the bits, and then a button to flip the sign on the number to show how that actually affects the bits
