the world needs more guinea pig cartographers
A guinea pig cartographer works amongst his maps, using his instruments, with a quill and ink next to him on a wooden table; he looks at the viewer obliquely with a black background in a style that is reminiscent of early modern portraiture. The artist enjoys exploring the histories of art through homages to previous paintings in his whimsical works.

We’ve been checking river temps – not a scientific study, but worrying results: 🌡️18°C at St John’s Beck | 17°C at Keswick | 16.1°C at Seathwaite. Fish get stressed at 18°C. We’re not even in summer yet. Shade from riverside trees really matters. #RiverRestoration #Trout #Salmon #WestCumbria

The Conscientious Objectors' Road. Dartmoor. Built by Conscientious Objectors' "housed" in Dartmoor Prison during The Great War this is a road that goes nowhere, has no purpose and exemplifies the petty vindictiveness of the majority to those minorities whose views do not conform to their own.
A narrow untamed road stretches into the distance across the Moor. Storm clouds gather on the horizon.

Some of the views from Criffel yesterday morning. Even when there is too much haze and sun in the wrong angle to enjoy the Lakeland Hills vista clearly, the fascinating Estuary channels never disappoint.

Lovely evening for a riverfly survey before the light quickly failed.
Upstream view of the survey site on the Cald Beck. Taken from mid stream, the flow has covered most of the rocks and the tree cover is good. Downstream view of the survey due onthe Cald Beck. The larger rocks and higher flow make it lively before are large pooled right angle turn in the river.
