The Cascadia megathrust earthquake was a M9 event that took place more than 300 years ago. Canadian History Ehx's threaded summary of the event is a good read, and their podcast is well worth subscribing to. Also Cascadia Megathrust would be a fine name for a magmacore grungehop band.

2 years ago we climbed Seven Fingered Jack in the North Cascades. We had amazing views of all the major mountains including Glacier Peak right across from us. And the colors were unreal. #washington #mountains #northcascades

Washington's Mt. Rainier is an absolutely massive stratovolcano. It takes up almost the whole frame of this airplane window photo. Its gray slopes are steep but also broad, and it comes to a wide top with several rounded peaks making up its very top. Snow covers a lot of the mountain, really highlighting the location where water - or lahars, or jökulhlaups - flow down its sides.
