panel 1: starting with what we did see on screen, stede is standing amongst some insane foliage and has a speech bubble above his head saying “ed! can you come with? it’s getting a bit dark and i can’t actually find my way back to the ship.” another speech bubble is below, from an out-of-frame ed saying “aw, yep. yeah, coming.”
panel 2: ed is now standing next to stede and is pointing at the sky. with speech bubbles at the top of the panel he says, “hey, buttons turned into a seagull!” stede asks, “what?” and ed replies “yeah, he flew off!” stede is standing with his arms at his side. as ed gesticulates while pointing at the sky, his other hand moves towards stede, and a yellow exclamation point near their hands indicates they’ve inadvertently made contact.
panel 3: against a stark white background, we see a close up of ed and stede’s hands, with ed’s pinky touching stede’s. there is a very comic book-style “kapow!” shape behind their hands, red in the center with a golden yellow outline, and little lines and stars and other embellishments to try to convey that this tiny pinky touch probably felt like a kind of joyous kick to the gut for both of them.
panel 4: back against a soft, greenish backdrop again, stede’s hand wraps around ed’s and they both hold the other’s hand firmly.
panel 5: we see them standing next to each other amongst the foliage holding hands and smiling at one another, each with a little red heart above their heads.
panel 6: still holding hands, they run along a beach with the silhouette of the revenge out in the water. there are a few speech bubbles above them:
ed: you think they’ll say yes?
stede: i think so.
ed: what if they say no?
stede: then we’ll talk it through.
