woke is when bike lane
A post from a Kensington resident that reads "Richmond bike lane is woke. Has nothing to do with safety, or children, or motherhood. Maybe woke folks can promote eliminating parking on all streets within 2500 feet of EC BART station. That would kill parking for BART patrons and residents at once. Kill two birds!!"

The most interesting use case, I think, is when someone is going to get a billion enters/leaves triggers (eg. Blood Artist on board with boardwipe on the stack OR a big Awaken the Woods with a bunch of Landfall stuff in play). But outside of fog/politics, the uses for this are gonna be pretty niche.

As someone who doesn't bike, I'm all for more bike infrastructure. The more bikeable a place becomes, the more walkable it becomes too.

What's fascinating to me is complaining about this when some of the supporters of these candidates are landlords who live outside El Cerrito Thinking about a particular person who lives in Kensington

a banger from @meganas.bsky.social (who would have been a great city council member) on the state of political discourse in our little town
You can spend the rest of your life wondering if the person who sends ominous, but somehow mostly legal, comments on Instagram is brave enough not just to wear their Kangol hat backward like a pale imitation of Samuel L. Jackson but also to ride their scooter up the little hill to where you live. You can spend the rest of your life wondering if there’s another person, a quieter, more brazen person you don’t even know about, watching your neighbors make you a villain and your family an acceptable target for violence. Or you can choose to hit a metaphorical ctrl+z, return to your wonderful life as an active, interested citizen, and let every supporter’s disappointed text pierce you like a (thankfully metaphorical) knife to the heart.

the classic nextdoor argument of "harassment is bad" vs "what is harassment, really? can we truly define it as such?"

I'm a little torn. It feels like there were a number of neighbors who seemed all too eager to condone (or look the other way) when people were behaving maliciously while also claiming to be the victims. I am trying to move on as best I can, but man, it's tough.

We once took one of our birds to the vet rather urgently because he was refusing to put weight on his left foot and would heavily favor his right. For the entire time up until the appointment, he stood on just his right foot. Then we parked at the vet and he switched to standing on just his left.

We enjoyed it! Really liked the characters and the dialogue was fun. The second act dragged a bit-- I don't think a seperate investigation for each character was necessary, and I wound up showing each character just about every clue to trigger suspicions. But everything after that was great.

I feel like those two are often pretty closely synced at 12th so if you miss one, you miss both But yeah it's always been weird to me that the transfer point is at 19th when a lot of people will do an "unofficial" timed transfer at 12th

If you get food poisoning on a plane and your flight back is with the same airline and you witness the passenger next to you refuse all food/drink offered... Maybe reconsider eating the food.

Mechanically, is it more of a standard point-and-click? Just curious as to how it plays. I really enjoyed playing the Golden Idol series (and other puzzley/mystery games) with NY partner so curious if it lends itself well to solving things with another person.

The hallmark of conservatism is when you *checks notes* build new affordable housing
Reddit post that reads "Seems like the regulars here on r/elcerrito are basically Conservative...as in desiring to defend the status quo. I wonder what motivates you? Do you love the prison-style new housing on Cutting? Do you love the new 8-story building going up at Richmond and Central? Do you have any concern for what that building does to violate the neighborhood there? I doubt it. But you do love defending the status quo...which makes me wonder what, exactly, your connnections to the City Council are. As far as I'm concerned, the folks who approved either/both buildings should be dealt with harshly in the upcoming elections"

The only America 250 thing I will accept is my local ice creamery making a red, white, and blue swirl ice cream with only natural dyes and it turning out like this
Red white and blue ice cream which is actually pastel and hence just trans pride colors

I guess the only thing I'd be concerned about-- is there any risk of creating a district where the % of likely voters is very low? I feel like that might be a possibility in certain parts of the flats, but I don't really know where to find that data.

I have to say, with how small El Cerrito is, it's kinda difficult for me to have an opinion on this. I'm not all that sure what I should even be considering.

He's also been invoking MLK repeatedly in the neighborhood Facebook group to complain that discussion about the library measure wasn't allowed in the main feed for that group. It's, of course, a very comparable situation.

This dude kept comparing the anti-library campaign to the civil rights movement. It was, uh...certainly a choice.

I wanted the measure to pass for the obvious reason of supporting a new library, but NextDoor has made me also want it to pass to spite these people specifically.
