Then, right on time, the news helicopter announces itself with a riot of noise and wind and dust. A few moments pass as the dust settles and the rotor stops spinning. The door opens and an east Asian woman steps out in a branded KRED parka that somehow maintains the air of a sharply tailored suit jacket. Stede notices her impeccable hair and thinks ruefully of his own carefully styled hair, now irreparably mussed by the gusts off the rotors. But there's no time for that.
"I'm Zheng Yi Sao," the woman says when she reaches him, extending her hand to shake. "I'm the science reporter for KRED news. This is Auntie, my camera operator."
"Pleased to meet you. Dr. Stede Bonnet, USGS."
Auntie directs them to a part of the ridge where you can just see the tall, conical mountain in the mist. "Okay, let's get started. We're on a tight schedule."

"Right, okay," Stede says, standing out of frame and taking a deep breath as Auntie films Zheng's intro.
"Occasionally the clouds behind us have parted just long enough so airplanes at higher altitudes could see the ash deposits on the side of the mountain." Zheng speaks crisply into the microphone, while gesturing towards the slope behind her. "Here at Revenge post, about (x miles direction) of Mount St. Helens - which is just behind us in the clouds - we have felt the rumblings and heard the quaking just before some of the eruptions. With us right now is volcano researcher Dr. Stede Bonnet. Dr. Bonnet is from the US Geological Survey."
Auntie gives him a quick "tsh" from behind the large camera rig and gestures for him to walk towards Zheng. As he approaches, Zheng continues.
"Dr. Bonnet, tell us, is this going to be the extent of eruptions here on Mount St. Helens or just the beginning?"
