Shot in the dark recommendation for @adequateemily.bsky.social, as we were discussing "different" music the other day. Cheers. youtu.be/BK2Fuwk1SZ8

Adults can do anything man, it's sweet. And I've found my pajamas are sometimes more formal than what I've seen other people go out in.

Republicans need to let go of the red scare shit. Communists will never gain a foothold in the United States both because there are so few of them and because they spend 90% of their time arguing about who is actually a Communist.

Great art is coming out and evolving all the time, it’s just that we’re prone to missing things in the moment that later we’ll realize were revelatory. But there’s so much unique stuff being made.

Giles for You @gilesforyou.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Noice. There's a world of fascinating stuff out there—old, new, yet to be made. Whenever I hear people despair the state of music (or movies or any media), I presume they're just not bothering to look around.

I believe that also included Les Claypool's remark about The Residents being like a fungus, which at first you didn't like, but then grew accustomed to.

Ah, thank you kindly for the clarification. I know a number of drinkers (largely the social / responsible variety) and was having difficulty thinking what "pro alcohol people" meant.

020

Giles for You @gilesforyou.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

As a tobacco user and former alcoholic, I'd like to think that those who enjoy life's pleasant-if-ill-advised consumables could get along better.

I am hard-pressed to think of examples where their policies don't stem from mean-spirited idiocy. But!, I am no no anthropologist—just some guy.

Giles for You @gilesforyou.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

A-yep, I remember my early days. Chest pains in my mid-20s lead me to adjust tactics, and eschew energizing beverages on days which I planned to get hammered. This led to a considerable diminishment in my Red Bull et al. intake.

Giles for You @gilesforyou.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Some of the more blatant I've seen outside of vintage propaganda posters.

040

Giles for You @gilesforyou.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

I recollect enough drunken evenings to know there were achievements I wasn't otherwise able to attain, computer- and otherwise. That intake band where booze acts a mind-lubricant is under-appreciated.

140

Giles for You @gilesforyou.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Having attained around seven decades of hard-drinking in one decade, I now drink a lot of coffee, and would never begrudge someone their caffeine of choice—so long as there's caffeine.

Oh, natch. This is very much a "business lunch" line of behaviour to reclaim.

It's among the reasons, if only because he describes his hobbies as "gainful and awesome". They be one or both, but the point of hobbies isn't to impress others, and using such language to describe them indicates a clear sense that they are also mere social obligations for him.

It's an issue of creation, which requires flexible thinking and consideration of views not necessarily espoused by the creator themself. So, yes.
