I think we'd see a lot more urgency about regulating AI in Silicon Valley if the AI agents suddenly developed a sense of restorative justice, and instead of them threatening humanity with total extinction, they just wanted to redistribute wealth and reverse power hierarchies.

Practical and playful - that's how I intended to write this piece on "Making Together" as a method. In it, I offer suggestions for researching sociotechnical objects and communities of practice by un/re/making things with others. Take a look at this excellent volume at kitsformethods.com.

Kits for Digital Methods: Doing Sociotechnical Research. Edited by Angela K. VandenBroek and Nicole Taylor. We invite you to look past the specificity of the fieldsites or topics to attend to what each kit reveals about methodological thinking, problem-solving, ethical negotiation, and the everyday labor of making research work. Play, experiment, explore, and improvise in each kit’s sandbox to get a feel for how they work, how they might be adapted, and what they might inspire within your own research practice. —Angela K. what inspiring books from the 90s' anti-globalization movement should we be reading now to make sense of the political power of big tech, if any?

I started STS scholars (broadly construed) starter pack! It's VERY incomplete! I wasn’t sure if there was an easier way to do this than just going through my followers & adding people. Probably missed lots of folks! Please let me know who I missed or if you'd like to be added. go.bsky.app/H4NcX46
