At this point it’s already way into the night and Hans struggles more and more to stay awake. Eventually he falls asleep finally. And Henry still in his wolf form decides to do the same.

So Hans about to ride out, likely back to Rattay. Maybe Henry chickened out and ran back. However the wolf beast is very determined to make sure Hans is not leaving the camp. Placing himself in the way and scaring the horse to stop Hand from riding anywhere.

Cause what do all of the answers hes getting even mean? The wolf knows where Henry is, but it can’t lead him to him. The wolf knows that Henry is alive, not in danger and seemingly not out somewhere in the woods? Where did that peasant go?

Oh yes it does. However I should mention that Henry in his Werewolf form can not talk. He limited to human gestures but otherwise can only vocalise like a wolf could. Which leaves both Hans and Henry with only one option in this situation. Yes or no questions.

And indeed Henry sits with his tail wagging. Is he acting like a dog on purpose to not scare Hans? Or is it part of his instincts kicking in? … both probably. So now that Hans seemingly is stuck with a giant wolf creature as a hunting dog, while his actually hunting companion is still missing

Hans shoots another arrow this time somewhere off into the distance, just to see if the beast would try to fetch that one too. After Henry retrieves that one as well, Hans seems to get the idea that this giant wolf acts suspiciously like a trained dog. So he orders it to sit.

I personally like the idea of Hans getting freaked when he sees Henry’s wolf form in the dark, and tries to shoot and arrow at him, which Henry catches in his maw with ease. And the bringing it back to Hans like a dog fetching a stick. Trying to seems as non threatening as a wolf beast can be.

Both scenarios would have Hans encountering wolf Henry either in the camp or in the surrounding area. Also in both cases Henry would likely try to say as quiet and hidden as a large beast can be, yet still keeping and eye on Hans. (Since he’s technically still on his night watch)

Cause he’s been transforming since he was a little kid. He wasn’t bitten or turned or cursed into being a werewolf. It is genetics. We put a pin in that for now, till we get to mention Radzig.

Now onto the transformation, I haven’t fully thought out that part yet. Cause I can’t decide on what level of anthropomorphic the werewolves are going to look like in this Au. What for sure is that the transformation itself despite being uncomfortable isn’t painful to Henry at this point.

Henry offers (or more likely tries to demand) to take the first night watch. Hoping Hans will be asleep before the sun has fully set. Considering that the game at this point is set in mid spring, the sun will set probably way to early for Hans to even consider sleeping.

Henry would likely already think through all of the possibilities to make sure Hans does not find out about him being a werewolf. All while Hans, literally sitting on his high horse, is probably making fun of Henry being scared of the dark scary woods.

The further away from Rattay they get the more nervous Henry becomes as it dawns to him that they gonna camp in the woods, and the implication that this has. But he can’t really bail out of it at this point. After all it was supposed to be a punishment for both of them by Hanush.

Considering that Hans selected hunting spot is pretty far away and it seemingly takes them almost the entire day to get there. (They ride out of Rattay in the morning and by the time they arrive it’s already late enough in the evening that Hans decided to go hunt tomorrow instead)

Why these overly complicated rules? I already explained the issue with making it based on the full moon. Making him able to turn at will would throw up questions like: why didn’t he turn into a wolf to defend Skalitz and protect his parents?

Additionally he can also only turn back when inside a forest. So he can leave the forest in his wolf form but has to be back by dawn or be stuck as a wolf till the next day break. (so 24h)

In short Henry transforms into his wolf form at the start of every night, as long as he’s inside a forest. Which means he would not transform while residing in a village, castle or city.

obviously the fact that the story remains the same except Henry occasionally turns into a humanoid wolf. Since making him able to transform at will would take out drama and tension of the au. (While also opening up more questions.) I settled on an overly complicated rule, with lots of potential.

Okay the first issue I ran into with a werewolf Au was that the canonical timeframe of both games being only over the span of 2-3 months. So going with moon cycles would mean that there would only be 2-4 times where Henry actually turns. Which would be kinda sad for a werewolf Au where the hook is

I know it can feel intimating to post fanart when theres already so much out there by other artist. But If you want to draw something because you love it. You should act on it. Let yourself be motivated by the things you like, not discouraged by the feeling that you have to perform for an audience.
