Unemployed do-gooder, helper of refugees. Colorado. Multipotentialite--or is that the ADHD? I'm in my third act, or maybe it's my fourth. Maybe it's the epilogue. I don't have a job.

I stepped on the scale today and saw I've hit my goal weight. I'm down 100 lbs. I've been trying to do this since I was 13 years old--which is probably the last time I was this weight or anywhere close to it. Despite that and the work it took, actually achieving this feels weirdly anticlimactic.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's in the syllabus. Our neighborhood gang of raccoons have repeatedly disassembled the fountain pump I have running in my container water garden.

It has been a solemn day. Here are some waterlilies I photographed a few days ago. I hope this soothes your brain a bit.

I had zero desire to exercise today, but decided to go for a walk at least. When I got going, I detoured to a longer route plus I stopped by the rec center to do 30 minutes on leg machines. Walked 1.5 miles home. Two blocks from home, the universe rewarded my effort when I found this in the street.

We went to the botanic gardens this morning and you are not going to believe what the name of this plant is.
It’s hairy balls. That’s the name of this plant with green prickly orbs instead of flowers.

I saw pretty wildflowers growing through the gravelly soil on my hike at Staunton State Park yesterday. I don't know what any of them are, though. @frwildflowers.bsky.social help me out?

My husband and I went hiking today. I haven't been on a full-on day hike since 2019 when I weighed nearly 100 lbs. more than now. When I went to put on my daypack, it was still set up for the last time I used it. My husband: "Holy shit. You have to take a picture of that." So I did. Here you go.

OK, Downside of losing nearly 100 lbs. I just did a BACTRAC breathalyzer and after two glasses of wine (which is two more than usual for me), I can’t drive for another 5+ hours. Hahahahaha!! No I’m not the one driving.

I meant to take this photo three miles earlier but I forgot. I wanted it to be at the 12345 mileage point. Anyway, I'm about two months away from having owned this car for eight years. I don't really like to drive.

I still have that jacket. It has embroidered Looney Tunes characters on the back (I worked for TIme Warner, got the jacket from my employer).

I wear mostly workout clothes. I decided I'm going to wear the pretty clothes, even if it means being ridiculously over-dressed. Today I mostly watched TV and did stuff online. This was my ensemble: a nice summer dress and a trendy crochet cardigan (b/c air conditioning makes me cold).
A sage green sleeveless knee-length dress and an ivory colored crochet cardigan that frankly look fabulous together but are a bit much for sitting around and watching TV.

My favorite piece of public art in Denver is the Wynken, Blynken, and Nod statue in Washington Park. It honors author Eugene Field and one of my favorite poems (and Doobie Brothers' song). I wish I could have a smaller version in my yard.

I need to find a safe trail to ride my ebike somewhere near Denver. The Cherry Creek and S. Platte River trails are too busy. I'm a lifelong cyclist, but the ebike intimidates me. It's quite unwieldy compared to anything else I've ridden. I need a no-pressure place to get comfortable with the bike.

Today I donated my beloved mountain bike to Bikes Together. I got very choked up when I said goodbye to her. I never held it against her that she bucked me off in Breckenridge. The scar from those 10 stitches in my shin will always remind me of our wonderful adventures together. Long may she ride.
A woman rides a blue mountain bike on a Breckenridge trail, not knowing that in 10 minutes, she will hit a tree root, do a full endo, and be dramatically thrown down a mountain embankment with great force where she will be sliced by a sharp rock leading to a need for 10 stitches in her shin. The EMTs in the first-aid station at the bottom of the mountain will be genuinely impressed at the bandage her boyfriend MacGyvered from a pocket-pack Kleenex and the elastic strap from her lift ticket, but will be even more impressed that she asks, "How much longer can I ride before I have to go for stitches? The lift ticket wasn't cheap and I want to keep going for as long as I can."

It’s a veritable treasure trove of emergency preparedness! I think I need to replace the alcohol wipes and insect repellent pouches, but otherwise everything looks OK. The pouch can be mounted to various places inside the car. Nifty! I’m going to add a couple of N95 masks.

While cleaning out my car today, I came across this little pouch. I’ve had my car for seven and a half years but I totally forgot the dealer included a first-aid kit with some extras. I think I’ll open it and see what’s inside and if any of it is still any good.

You guys, the basement is finished and today we set up our exercise area. Who wouldn't want to work out or do yoga here? I hate to exercise, but I'm actually looking forward to it now (the basement was a dark, depressing dungeon before). There's also a large TV that's hooked up to a working Wii fit.

I saw this play at the DCPA last night. I fell asleep thinking about it and woke up still thinking about it. It tickled the language teacher part of my brain just as much as the part that mattered when I was an immersed language learner abroad. This play is deeply thought provoking.

I bought this dress today and I'm going to wear it to the Jon Batiste concert with the CSO tonight. My husband thinks it looks like something a 6-year-old would wear. Maybe, but I'm wearing it anyway, with black tights & sparkly shoes. I am 65 years old and beyond giving a fuck what anyone thinks.
