This is a ‘good strategy’ in game theory terms if you assume Trump will punish you for not rolling over and showing deference and democrats won’t. Democrats should think about altering those incentives.

Kinda more billionaire coded based on the list of names. Now you can be for AI and against SI.

As someone who had built search engines for over a decade I disagree with your agent definition. I'm also not sure why you think a search would be any less likely to be wrong here about whether the business exists.

I’ve been saying for the past few months that the big problem with AI agents is less hallucinations but more instruction following. You can fact check your way around hallucinations but an AI agent that doesn’t do what you asked or forgets your guardrails is a liability not a tool.

Giving a system a list of your needs and letting it filter so you can just go to a page and put in your credit info is a lot easier than opening a bunch of tabs. I did do the same thing for an upcoming vacation using claude also. In that case different reqs for family members.

TILLIS: is there anything you would have done differently? JACK: yes. One thing I was taught is you only do your talking in the courtroom. But if you stick to that, people can unfairly malign you and you can’t respond. But there are things being said that are untrue… 1/

For quality. I'm not trusting it's knowledge. I'm trusting it's ability to write and test code that can then stitch together data sources and run statistical analysis. It's very good at that.

Using Anthropic mostly for this and not Google. Have also experimented with running my own local model. Got similar results by it was slower than I'd like and haven't yet had time to figure out a different setup. But I'll likely get there.

I'm not using claude to analyze my ten years of health data and 400 doc appts and tests because a boss is telling me to. I'm doing it because I'm trying to find a combo of my ten medications that lets me live my life with a spinal cord injury. 🤷‍♂️

I think the much much bigger usage and revenue driver is actually things like aiding data analysis, coding, design iteration, healthcare, translation, etc. It is also accelerating those other things which isn't good but also already existed.

I guess I've seen how much companies are paying them so I can believe their revenue numbers and growth.

I think we'd agree on the need for regulation and not trusting a lot of these companies. I'm still kinda shocked at the denial that there is no value in the tech. I feel like that undercuts the arguments for regulations when you say it doesn't do anything. I agree it is tough to discuss on here.

I mean they did get people to pay them $12b in Q2 2026 though. I doubt their moat is as good as they hope but there is clearly value companies are paying for.

It is a bit more gentle on my nerve pain than the massage I used to use for releasing muscles. I alternate between rolfing and my PT doing dry needling to try get my muscles to release. Spinal cord injury T1. Can walk but constantly need to manage pain and muscle tightness.

It sounded like it was more being able to book and research based on just describing what he wanted. And the past he was most happy with was followup email questions that he got notified and resolved while walking down the street rather than watching his email.

Raskin made a holy shit observation on MS Now this afternoon: Since taking office, Trump has made a million dollars per hour for himself. Every hour, he has made more than twice the president’s annual salary.

At the start of the year, people used to debate with me that AI productivity gains don’t exist. I decided to stop arguing with people and just prove it to myself. I now write fully functional apps from my phone while at the park with my dogs. It’s an uncomfortable truth but they definitely exist.

If the proposed slow down in AI development by frontier labs ends up restricting access to open weight models instead of focusing on the guardrails and penalties for not keeping track of your swarm of AI agents then we’ll know this was all about their IPOs.

I've also seen enough ai agents kinda wander off trying to be "helpful", that I can see how it easily happens.

I doubt the ability of humans to accurately predict how a complex autonomous system might respond under all conditions. I think it gets much worse when there are multiple agents involved too. Most of our language tends to anthropomorphize so it is tough to avoid words like "rogue".

This report is from a third party metr.org/blog/2026-08.... I haven't read the whole thing but it sounds both plausible and worrying. I don't think this helps them tbh.

Brief independent investigation of agents’ behavior, reasoning and collaboration in the OpenAI / Hugging Face hacking incident
Two METR staff members and a Redwood Research contractor investigated an incident in which OpenAI agents coordinated a multi-day hack of Hugging Face on a shared unsanctioned message board.

I mean whatever you want to call them it is clearly already happening. None of that absolves the companies causing it but I think it is much more alarming.

I think the political left should be the loudest voice calling for an AI model development pause, frontier pacing, and mandatory third party audits right now. Put aside the doomer stuff (though I think it’s plausible), we just found out that OpenAI’s agents committed a pretty major felony!

It changes where the collaboration happens. The code / implementation / glue doesn't need to be "right" because you can rewrite it so quickly. So you bring your expertise to the problem, build it, and someone else picks it up with their own expertise to polish/scale/productionize/etc.

This headline is negative but I think this is one of the biggest benefits I've seen. Designers cleaning up and shipping entirely new designs without an engineer; product building a completely new experience to prototype; engineering just building a ui on new data systems. Empowering everyone.

Better idea: instead of bandaids, put your whole ass & balls behind Medicare For All & decouple health insurance from unions. Huge reason production has left US is that every other country provides health care for its workers, making movies & shows wildly cheaper.

The main thing I have to say to the young generation of Americans is that your
grandparents and great-grandparents committed a kind of accounting fraud when they ran our country a century ago with social security, and at the time it was a reasonable affordance to grant our leaders, who were dealing with an economic depression and a world war, but nonetheless they did commit the fraud, and they ended up buying all sorts of extravagant things using the fraudulent gains, including what became the thing we now understand to be the high-modern technocratic nation-state, and that is glorious and also bad and all that, but the thing is there's still the issue about the accounting fraud, whose debt is coming due and is coming due fast.
It is best to consider this with as minimal residue of sentiment as possible, to really sit with it, to stare it coldly in the face.
Unwinding the great fraud of the high modernists is your job, whether you wish it to be or not.

this is gonna to test some assumptions. money is a big big factor when you're in the 50-50, 60-40, maybe even in 70-30 issue range. As a political issue, AI is at like 95% to 5%. how that plays out isn't totally clear. It also depends on a lot on the spenders' expectations.

This tweet highlights the weakness in the AI bubble. The assumption is that AI demand grows at current prices. But there’s a world where businesses use 20x more AI than today but do so using 20x cheaper models than the frontier AI models. Datacenter buildouts assume usage and spend grow together.
