The Snake River will always be my favorite. Probably one of the most versatile rivers, especially for outdoors stuff. Great for fishing. Great for boating and white water rafting. Great to just sit and stare at it.

The mini apple pies look a lot better out of the tin. I’m glad I used puff pastry. Gives them a very pillowy texture. And I forgot that I added crushed cranberries to give a little tartness.

I decided to grow some heritage and specialty chrysanthemums this year. The first plant has started blooming! This variety is called Whirlaway. The blooms feature petals in varying sizes with tubes that end in “spoons” in a slightly darker color. These blooms still need a few more days to unfurl.

A Chrysanthemum variety called whirlaway. The blooms, about two inches across, feature petals in the shape tubes that end with a “spoon” the tube of the petal is a light pink where the inside of the spoon at the end of the petal is a darker, richer pink.

I don’t miss wreckage from hurricanes in the South, but sometimes I miss hurricane parties. The power is out. Playing board games with friends. Eating cold spaghettios out of a can because you can’t heat it up. Sometimes when a storm goes through the South, I eat cold speghettios in solidarity.

I was hoping to be an absolute whore this extended weekend but tested positive for strep. Good news: after just 2 days of antibiotics, I feel a lot better! And glad I didn’t expose others to the bacteria. So I’m at home watching documentaries. Maybe next weekend!
