Is this #ProofOfCat or “proof that cat is having existential crisis”
A tabby and white cat is lying on a woollen blanket. Her paws are stretched out in front of her but her head is to the side, face down into the blanket, as if she despairs at the world.

“I grew up in care, not prison. I say it like a fact, like my phone number, recited without thinking. But none of that matters, because they want an answer. ‘So, what did you do wrong?’” This is a great piece of writing by @matt-taylor.bsky.social

I’m very wary of recommending that anyone should/shouldn’t do a PhD, but this looks really cool. The @maryrosemuseum.bsky.social and the universities have done such an amazing job so far, and they continue to discover more and display it in such an engaging way.

A tabby and white cat is sitting on black tiles staring up at the camera. She is wide-eyed and vacant, and her tongue is sticking out a little - a fact she seems completely unaware of. It should also be noted that she has a collection of fine, long whiskers.

Small joy to get to the end of the working week: tea from my Star Trek mug (and yes, I am wrapped in a blanket, it’s cold ok?)
A blonde, white woman in glasses, wrapped in a yellow blanket with bees on and drinking from a blue mug. The mug is a replica of those in Quark’s bar in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. “Come to Quark’s! Quark’s is fun. Come right now Don’t walk - run!” Is written on the base of the mug.

Started the next step in my roller derby journey and am attempting to learn to ref. It’s damn hard. As seen in these photos showing 1) nervous laughter and 2) sheer panic/no thoughts.
Three roller derby referees pictured against a wall of yellow bleachers. One is seriously doing some refereeing. The other two are laughing; one in a casual fashion, the other in a very nervous fashion. I am the latter. A photograph of a roller derby jam. In the middle of the shot you can see a referee - me - staring blankly at the track trying to remember to have thoughts. Just any thoughts.

Today in AI Is Not A Good Source For Learning About The World's Most Misunderstood Body Part, meet this ChatGPT gem. Funnily enough, we're actually going to talk about how most of this is kinda sorta right (for small values of right), as a cautionary tale about generative AI.
Screenshot of a reddit post: ChatGPT asked if I wanted a diagram of what's going on inside my pregnant belly.

A screenshot of ChatGPT's response. It is a side view of a foetus gestating in the uterus. The foetus is head-up with no umbilical cord or placenta. Behind the uterus is the rectum, which is unlabelled. Trailing down from between the rectum and spine, extending beneath the buttocks to the inner thigh is a yellow line labelled "pudendal nerve. At the front is an oval-shaped part labelled "cervix". And then we really struggle to image describe this bit. The uterus and the bladder are both attached to a single part which is long inside, then extends downwards into a penis with a single exist. This penis is labelled "rectum".
