I'm not going to jump up and down on the person being wrong, but AI prompting isn't like art. It's like commissioning art. And the guy you're commissioning from eats coal, takes pictures of you when you're not looking, and got his career start by stealing everyone else's work.

I think we should stop calling them safety tools and start calling them calibration tools. Safety is only a partial aspect (possibly an illusory one), but all of them are helping calibrate for the type of experience we want to have around the table. Calibrate your play.

If I can get on my soapbox today: there's a take I see way too often about TTRPGs, that posits that there exists a 'problem player' who will 'always try and ruin the game', and therefore designers should not account for these players when creating a game.

My 9 games! Theyre a lot more varied than I thought theyd be. I think it speaks a lot to the kind of games I inherited from other family members and the ones I got myself when I was older.

My biggest challenge is somehow getting my game in front of the specific subset of players and GMs who already have a taste for mediated dread, domestic-scale horror, moral recontextualization under pressure, and systems that reward long attention. This doesn't fit in a 300 character pitch.

Fun fact: Once had a player drop out of a campaign because they knew I made TTRPGs, put me on a pedestal, and then lost respect for me when I just ran a pretty normal game (all their own words). They were genuinely upset that I didn’t live up to their expectations. I think about that a lot. :/

Tbh I kinda don’t mind that most TTRPGs are about violence. Simulated violence is fun and combat puzzles are engaging. For me it’s about being honest that you are here to simulate violence because you find it fun and not trying to obfuscate that truth and insist that’s not what you’re here for.
