So turns out I've got issues, github issues that is! Ended up submitting the flaky language switch issue @ vimeo after hours of trying to debug. Been a while since I had to pull out that many good ol' console.logs!

Below, a results table reports “0 / 10 trials actually applied the requested audio track,” with 10 rows where `selectAudioTrack()` resolved to `{"language":"es","kind":"translation"}` and the “Applied?” column says “no” for every trial.

Alright spent way to many hours diving into this, adding console.logs everywhere and tormenting Claude as a last resort but this is a current bug with the Vimeo API. I'm using the correct semantics and Vimeo acts like the switch went through, but then when I check it says "nope!

A browser console log shows a language-switch process for Spanish audio, including text such as “[lang-switch] selectAudioTrackForLanguage” and “[lang-switch] verifyAudioTrackActive.” An expanded array lists two tracks, English main and Spanish translation, with the Spanish track highlighted and marked enabled: false, indicated by a red arrow and a green check mark.

so in summary we see selectAudioTrack shows we're selecting he right language. but when we call getAudioTracks() its showing that selectAudioTrack didn't enable it in vimeo? Do I have that right?

Yes, that's exactly right.

selectAudioTrack("es", "translation") resolves successfully, echoing back {language: "es", kind: "translation"} — it looks like it worked.
But the very next getAudioTracks() call — which asks the player "what's actually active right now" — still shows English enabled: true and Spanish enabled: false.
So the request went out, got acknowledged, and the promise told us "done" — but the player never actually flipped over to the Spanish track. It's not that we're picking the wrong language (we're clearly asking for the right one, and the promise even confirms it echoed the right request back) — it's that asking doesn't reliably make it happen. Vimeo's player accepted the command and then quietly didn't act on it, most of the time.

That's the whole bug in one sentence:

So todays a "fun" one. Been trying to debug this random bug where usually Vimeo will listen to the language toggle to change the language but sometimes it won't? Vimeo gives an API so I was able to create this interface to switch between languages easier for less techy users.

🟩 knocked out gym by going at 6:30am, a record! Just a chill 3 mile walk though I wish the dude with a persistent cough hadn't chosen the machine directly behind me in an empty gym? I ended up moving to a machine on the other side of the gym 🙄

Previously, the summary element was assigned the button role, and the heading tags within it were not recognized. However, I believe this situation has changed a bit.

MDN states the following:

The role assigned to the "summary" element varies across browsers. Some still assign it a default "button" role, which removes all roles from its children. This inconsistency can cause issues for users of assistive technologies such as screen readers ("h4" in the previous example will have its role removed and will not be treated as a heading for these users). You should test your "summary" implementation on multiple platforms to ensure there's consistent accessibility support.

It seems that an accurate answer has not yet been found.

To move this issue forward, I believe we need to thoroughly test whether the headings within the Summary element are correctly identified by all major screen readers and browsers. cc @joedolson

Had fun listening to Amanda Mayfield CYC talk about accessibility while cutting up some watermelon! I was surprised it was her first talk since she has such an engaging speaking voice! That contrast joke that snuck in was 👌 chefs kiss.

I wanted to work on multiple features at once but the claude VSCode extension runs the risk of the sessions overwriting eachother's work 🤔 So I got claude-cli and learned how to use worktrees so theres no risk of overwriting, just might have to deal w/ merge conflicts later

First time I set up a feature/worktree:
Open terminal
claude --worktree <branch-name>

Returning
Open terminal
Cd into folder with git repo
git worktree list
cd into worktree
claude --continue
