I have a theory: we know that Rand has a storyline where he tries to save a girl, but she still dies, and he attempts to bring her back to life. I think experiencing that trauma in the show will unlock Lews memories because of what happened to his children.

Anyway, this probably won't even post, but the colorism and ableism in this episode bothered me a lot more than what happened with Rand or Faile It does not have to be deliberate for it to be true that there's a pattern of darker-skinned characters shown experiencing more brutal treatment
