And it’s done. Parliament voted against the Assisted Dying Bill. There were only 16 votes in it- so it was a close run thing- but the outcome will be the same. Someday we will be able to end our lives with dignity, if we choose. But I now doubt it will be in what remains of my life

Clacton wasn’t the triumph Reform is spinning. Farage got just 1,014 more votes than in 2024 (22,239 vs 21,225). Turnout collapsed to 44% from 58% in 2024. Higher vote share on a much lower turnout against a field of independents and novelty candidates is not the crushing victory some claim.
