The fact that this idiocy got past an editor in a book on godamn punctuation shows how deep the ignorance of Judaism and Jewish history is in the wider culture and how that ignorance is being weaponized so as to create a better scapegoat for Western uses

Tip to those covering the Fly Dubai drama (or reading about it): Netanyahu was not a character in this story, not even an important source. Not every story about Israel needs to feature the PM, at least not in the first 15 graphs.

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”
APStylebook @APStylebook

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

1) Thank you, Karin. I’m happy that both the 1998 and 2026 DNA tests results jibe with the historical evidence compiled in my first book. I also think the historical information alone should be enough. But I know the world we live in & why DNA was brought into the picture.

2) It’s interesting (though predictable) that before they’ve read how the testing was conducted over 15 years I’ve seen comments attempting to debunk the results. The need to oppose is just knee jerk, even though this kind of circumstance was common in the slave society in which TJ lived.

A Meeting

In a Dream I meet
my dead friend. He has,
I know, gone long and far,
and yet he is the same
for the dead are changeless.
They grow no older.
It is I who have changed,
grown strange to what I was.
Yet I, the changed one,
ask: "How you been?"
He grins and looks at me.
"I been eating peaches
off some mighty fine trees."

🗃️ I think it's important to not lose sight of the fact that, fundamentally, history was us back then. "Times change, we express ourselves differently, but the human condition is still the same old deal." -Annie Lennox
"There aren’t many topics more serious than war, and this is a story that culminates in what is arguably the bloodiest operation in American military history and a global pandemic that killed tens of millions of people. An honest accounting of what happened is necessarily going to go to some extremely grim places, and I’ve made no great effort to downplay any of that. At the same time, in the course of my research I kept finding little things that were odd, faintly ridiculous, or sometimes just funny. The temptation in telling a serious story about a serious topic is to ignore these things, XIEVEN A DOG ENLISTS, WHY NOT YOU? since they clash with the somber tone the war seems to demand, but I immediately decided to do the opposite. The tendency to reduce the story of a war to a uniformly miserable and depressing bloody smear is understandable, but I think this is a deceptive way to present things. I’ve never met anyone who served in the military who couldn’t talk at length about the strange, the stupid, and the outright absurd elements of their experiences. Unsurprisingly, the recollections of veterans of the First World War were no different. To quote the rapper and author Propaganda, in many ways “History is just us back then.”6 That being the case, it shouldn’t surprise us that people at the time regularly wrote about their wartime experiences with all the exasperation, irreverence, and sarcasm that many of us would exhibit under similar circumstances. "
