High temperature in the seas around Europe persist. Based on data from the Copernicus Marine Service, sea surface temperature anomalies at the end of June show warmer than usual conditions in the western Mediterranean Sea of ~6°C. The southern North Sea and the Baltic Sea are warmer than usual too.

The fictional forecast as I understand it (my french is rusty) was supposed to be for a "typical" August heat wave in 2050, while the current actual map shows a *record* June heatwave. But the basic message--that we'll see more and more of these extremes as we continue to warm the planet--holds.

A fast-moving wildfire burns through a dry forest, with bright orange flames and thick smoke filling the scene. A white square frame overlays the image, but the flames break through and extend beyond it, symbolising how wildfires do not respect boundaries. Inside the frame, the message reads: “Wildfires know no borders, neither should our response.” The European Commission logo appears in the bottom corner.
