I joke, I wish American fans liked magical girl shows, anything that's not Sailor Moon seems to just die.

I do wonder what this is that I have, I didn't get it sent to me directly, pretty sure somebody else actually gave it to me.

So we've got Magic Knights Rayearth, Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart (On Ocean Veil), and the second season of Lulutto Lilly just starting up. Good season for mahou shoujo. Were's my mahou shobros to talk about this with!?

That looks a whole lot like a "I can fix him" sort of show, which, from a guy's perspective, always make me very uneasy.

Are there any over/unders on whether we're getting another awful, soulless AI generated Coca-cola ad for the holidays this year?

GeraldAWO @geraldawo.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

Well, the pros were that there was a lot of physical media that people were selling, the cons were that if they were CDs they were usually Sonmay bootlegs

Travis Knight’s WILDWOOD is such an astounding achievement in stop-motion that even if the story sucked, it would be a “must see.” But the story is wonderful (if a little archetypal), so the effort it took to produce this masterpiece was wholly justified. My review is at @thewrap.com!

‘Wildwood’ Review: Laika's Fantasy Epic Is One of the Most Astonishing Animated Movies Ever Made

The stop-motion adventure Wildwood, directed by Travis Knight, is so astonishing and intricate that it's hard to even fathom.

@hyenasandgin.bsky.social Well this is a surprise, the new Magical Girl Raising Project Restart is exclusive to Ocean Veil

Think about it, did people work less during the industrial revolution? Did people work fewer hours when they introduced computers into the office? Nope just the opposite.

GeraldAWO @geraldawo.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Something that bothers me so much about this thing is they want to make you think that technology will make you work fewer hours, that has NEVER been true, you only get to work fewer hours with legislation. Don't listen to the lies of tech bros, never in history has tech led to fewer work hours.

Out now on nyaa, a new rip of Kyoufu no Bio Ningen Saishuu Kyoushi, known in English as Ultimate Teacher, from the Japanese laserdisc release. Long only available from a rather ratty rip of the hardsubbed U.S. LD, this is the first clean public upload of the film. No more piss tint!

This is so god damn insane. What company is going to pay me to work less? We only have the "weekend" and 40 hour work weeks because unions demanded that laws be passed for them. This will never, EVER voluntarily happen.

Dara of Reiwa at least gets points for not chickening out and actually putting a topless woman, complete with nipples, on screen, and not making some Barbie-doll like creature like Ranma or The Ghost in the Shell made.

Man Clevatess, you started this season badly and you ended it really badly, just introduce a new insanely powerful character that totally nullifies the final conflict entirely. Lame, you could have done so much better.

Erica Friedman @okazu.yuricon.com · 29/09/2026

That show was tremendous, a huge tribute to 2D animation at the same time, they painstakingly did a lot of things hand drawn in that. I really hope they release that one physically. I have to use weasel words and call it "one" of my favorite shows of the season since there was so much good stuff.

The ongoing framing that actually owning your media is "low-tech" is disingenuous and sad. In a world where the powers that be are trying to destroy media ownership, we should be embracing and supporting it instead of snarking about how it's "outdated"

I've tried all of these: Chicken and Waffles, they "chicken'ed" out and made it mostly taste like maple, they could have labeled it "Pancakes" and you wouldn't know the difference. Deep Fried Cookies: Just tasted like cookie Banana Pudding: Not bad, good mix of cream and banana

Go see Forgotten Island instead.

Finished up Chainsmoker Cat, it was disgusting, downright gross and incredibly funny beginning to end. I will miss those messed up, damaged, scum bag girls. On top of that the show is an interesting social satire.

The Magic Knight Rayearth is interesting, I saw the first 2 or 3 episodes at Otakon and they're good, but not substantially different from the original series which stuck close to the manga already. I don't think people look at that original show and think it's a bad adaptation.

130

There might be other good things, but right now it's basically, Magic Knight Rayearth (which I'm still a bit iffy on), My Uncle Likes Cute Things, Apothecary Diaries season 3, Magical Girl Raising Project, and Lulutto Lilly season 2 and if we're movies probably the Oshii VOTOMS?

This coming anime season looks pretty dire, there's a few things there, but considering the total number of things that are being released versus what is worth watching, it's pretty bad. A good season to go back to this last season which was stacked with good stuff and catch up.
