Worse news Wilsons is now Diego's. There's a resident band playing nu-metal covers every Friday and a door that takes you into the entrance of Sloanes for £6 (but you have to be in pairs) And Sloanes (Electric) has the volume at talking over level. Next there on Halloween.

Some shit news last week. Three of the lot I knocked about with in my teens have now been lost to suicide. All men. All unexpected. Seemingly out of the blue. Men's mental health is saturated with platitudes, but, if you're comfortable sharing, is there anything we can do? What actually helps?

Most people need a counselling or a therapist at some point in their lives I reckon. That it comes after a flash point or attempt is pretty awful - its only gonna have negative connotations after that. Removing the stigma around needing MH support would help but I cant see how its achievable.

He's decided to go to a drop in mens place next week to talk. Outside of medication and diagnoses its the most positive step he's taken to improve his MH since attempting to take his own life 3 yrs ago. I'm so proud of him.

I think its machismo. Like everything we see in films is men holding it together. Even when we're saying "talk" it means someone else and not yourself Today I was talking to my lad about my suicidal thoughts around his age. I just didn't have the vocabulary then yet now I'm talking about it with him

Yeah and he's enjoying it. He's got holidays to use so that breaking his routine probably doesn't help. This relapse was expected tbh. Gutted for him. 😔
