The oldest English reference I can find to Dezaki describing something like a postcard memory is in the 2004 commentary produced for CPM's DVD release of Black Jack OVA 3. Here, it's translated as "souvenir pictures", and emphasis seems to be on the emotional effect rather than technical process.

As you can see, Xbox held their presentation on 6/7, while Nintendo is holding theirs on 6/9. This is due to their core company missives; Nintendo holds fast to traditional (and successful!) gamer values, whereas Xbox is a brand that constantly tries to remain relevant by latching onto trends
