Yep, adds to the disturbing yet funny nature. A scientist surmises that the Yeti mistakes their fur lined coats as them being of his own kind, and has adopted the teenage girl and her younger brother as his wife and son...

Watched Yeti: Giant of the 20th Century (1977) an Italian made film set in Canada. Extremely low budget attempt at King Kong, which is hilariously bad, though also rather unsettling since its a teenage girl the giant Yeti is attracted to which is shown through his nipples getting erect...
Poster for Yeti: Giant of the 20th Century. A giant neanderthal crushes a train in one hand and holds a teenage girl in another, while rampaging through a city being buzzed by helicopters. There are mountains in the background.

Cut my finger so had a plaster on it. Didn't realise until she started tugging at the remaining plaster with her teeth that the little dog Molly while sitting on my lap had been nibbling away along the edges of the square pad so gently I hadn't even felt it. She followed the edges perfectly too.

Watched Wolf Man (2025). An interesting new take on the Wolf Man story, from the side of the wife and child of a man cursed with lycanthropy. Julia Garner gives an excellent performance in a very claustrophobic & disturbing situation.

Honouring the legacy of Margaret Hamilton, the pioneer who coined the term “software engineering.” Her brilliant priority-driven software helped keep the Apollo 11 computer running through critical overloads during its final descent, helping land humanity safely on the Moon. RIP.

Over the weekend met a pensioner in a motorised scooter who gave the dogs a Royal British Legion poppy each to wear as in his words they were gorgeous and well behaved. Tried to pay for them but he insisted they were on him.

Took the dogs for their last walk of the day earlier before it got dark. But one of my dogs was still terrified, kept looking up at the skies and shaking, and wanted to go back home. Fireworks make life misery for animals even when they're not being set off.

I passed another woman with a dog who was panicking and they were going in the opposite direction to the fireworks. Its bad enough on dates related to fireworks but at least you expect it - anyone who sets them off at random times just don't think about the affect it has on animals & lives.

Geeky @geekychappy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
The dogs really look forward to their early evening walks, but if fireworks can go off on Oct 2nd, then they can go off any damn night, so I can't risk taking them again until the evenings get lighter in spring again. This happened last year and I hate it.

Geeky @geekychappy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
There should be a law against setting off fireworks outside of actual Firework Night. Walking the dogs early evening and they go off in our own street while heading back. So my dogs absolutely terrified but I have to force them towards what they fear in order to get them home safe.

I've been around dogs all my life & seen the trouble they can get themselves into. This morning was a first. Dolly found her way into dads old shed & into an old glue pot. Her leg got covered in leaves & plastic. Got the debris off before thought of taking a picture. The glue itself took longer.

Rewatched Man About The House (1974) movie the other week when Richard O'Sullivan died. It's a bit slow going at times & doesn't do the show justice which I remember fondly. The only real highlight of the film is the cameo from Spike Milligan playing himself & obviously improvising. #film #movies

Discworld QOTD, from Mort
The only thing known to go faster than ordinary light is monarchy, according to the philosopher Ly Tin Wheedle. He reasoned like this: you can't have more than one king, and tradition demands that there is no gap between kings, so when a king dies the succession must therefore pass to the heir instantaneously. Presumably, he said, there must be some elementary particles -- kingons, or possibly queons -- that do this job, but of course succession sometimes fails if, in mid-flight, they strike an anti-particle, or republicon. His ambitious plans to use his discovery to send messages, involving the careful torturing of a small king in order to modulate the signal, were never fully expanded because, at that point, the bar closed.
