i still have 6 episodes left but here are my unfiltered thoughts about why taylor chose to reference mad men with the infamous lavender haze ig reel (⚠️spoilers inevitable⚠️) 🧵

i just rewatched cardigan for the first time since TLOAS at the very least, and wow…. “you put me on and said i was your favorite” at the end of the video when taylor is putting the cardigan on, looking like james lol (cause she’s jaMEs) also you saved my heart from the fate of ophelia, obviously

taylor putting on her cardigan in the cardigan music video after she almost drowned

collage:

top left - (cardigan MV) taylor realizing she’s stuck in the water looking for something to hold onto
top right - (cardigan MV) taylor holding on to a grand piano that’s floating in the water for safety
bottom left - taylor in the orange white and blue surprise song dress jumping into the water (eras tour stage)
bottom right - taylor performing a surprise song on the eras tour floral piano in her supernova (blurple) dress (i believe this photo is from the final show)

thinking about the voice memo for Ophelia & how she sang “i was just honing my powers”, instead of “you”. & the reference makes much more sense through this lens. she saved herself by rewriting her own mythology, saving herself from being remembered how Ophelia was: mad, agency erased, objectified

some great examples of huge scorpio energy for her 1. debut is arguably the craziest one: there was a sun-mars conjunction in scorpio (also conjunct venus at the final degree of its domicile, libra), and there was also a moon-mercury-jupiter conjunction near the end of the sign

There will be a time (if you’re into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch.

all i can see is the life of a showgirl inside of a frame. my read is that taylor intends to frame the (life of a) showgirl as the cause of her own death. maybe it even sort of precedes ttpd in terms of the story being told?

still thinking about how she went out of her way to say there are NO additional songs and the album was exactly as it is at 12. very sus. not looking for more music, just looking for sus.
