My friend Maria was walking through Islington today when she came across a funeral being held in the Little Angel Puppet Theatre. The coffin was a rainbow wicker one. Which sounds exactly what Zippy's guvnor would have wanted.

He had a framed drum part of a Tubby Hayes piece on a small wall panel. This drum part was essentially a lot of bars and the word “time” - barely a pick up accent anywhere. I went to read it and Geoff said “don’t touch. That’s priceless that is.” I bet it wasn’t if he needed a box of Lion Bars…

Oh yes, I’ve gorged on LD’s work for many years… have you read @cheeseford.bsky.social ‘s excellent book about him? A marvellous wordsmith! There’s not a day where I don’t think about one of his lines and smile: “I met her on the Tunnel of Love… she was digging it…”
