Republican politicians are *obsessed* with schoolchildren coming home a different gender because of pro-trans teachers, WHICH NEVER HAPPENS. But they are completely indifferent to schoolchildren not coming home *at all* because of guns, WHICH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!

Usual hand-wringing about returning to division and inaction, not getting the same opt-outs etc… but arguments to rejoin trump those what-ifs. Going it alone in a world dominated by Putin, Trump and China is strategically idiotic and economically ruinous. Shaking your head at that is red-flag-dim.

It’s important to never forget Russia has a GDP smaller than Italy. Just Germany and the UK together have a population as big as Russia. Add the rest of Europe? We dwarf it. Putin’s entire strategy has always been to divide & peel off bits of Europe… but a Europe that sticks together? No chance.

I'd actually go as far as to say it's one of the main reasons Farage is still hanging around. He knows that he'll be given the space to play the victim for long enough to hope that people will forget he's a fascist and suddenly start voting for him again.

No wonder Badenoch and Farage are shitting bricks at the suggestion that Russia interfered in the Brexit referendum. Their whole business model relies on Brexit and the racist anti- immigration bomb that it detonated. Their next bright idea - to leave the ECHR - would delight Putin too.

ECHR withdrawal 'gift to Putin'
By Jonathan Rayner | 22 March 2012

Britain’s withdrawal from the European Convention on Human Rights in favour of a British bill of rights would be Vladimir Putin's
'best present ever', an East European delegate at a Council of Europe event for lawyers told the Gazette last weekend.

The source, who asked not be named, said that Putin, just re-elected as president of Russia, has always said that the Strasbourg court's policing of human rights was ‘meaningless'.
Another unnamed source, a former north European government lawyer, described the UK government's attitude to the Strasbourg court as 'Britain shooting itself in the foot. If the British don't engage with Europe, they'll lose influence and shouldn't be surprised if
Germany and France fill the vacuum?
