The tragedy of the Democratic Party is that even our “strongholds” consistently fail at clearly better governance. Blue states have a lot of positives, but housing is still unaffordable, transit is still a joke, and the cost of living is still high. Hard sell to your average voter.

The reason for this is that in the American Mythos, factory jobs represent a lifelong career that allowed to buy a house, raise a family, and retire on a pension. The problem with this is that the myth completely ignores the role unions had in making those things reality.

We’re going to see our system become less effective and our immigrant communities less safe. Undocumented immigrants and their families will stop coming to court. People will stop reporting crimes or cooperating with police. They’ll stop complying with ICE check ins. The trust is gone.

This is the bigger issue here imo. The Judge knew what she was doing and she toed that line. Maybe she crossed it, maybe not. But you don’t arrest a JUDGE like this unless you’re sending a message. It’s a warning to every judge in the country to stay out of their way. Or else.
