The Midterms
Two trans people are being confronted by a Democrat Consultant type who is pleading with them: "I understand the Democrat backtracked on trans rights, but you have to vote for him! Otherwise, normal people's rights will be threatened!"

*MONKTOBER* 14-cry, brother Calixtus This is an homage to Grützner's "The Catastrophe" (google it! A beautiful painting!) These days I often, very often, feel exactly like this.
A potoo bird person in monk robes and apron shouting in frustration. They are on the floor, next to them is a shattered wine bottle

It's maddening, because the curator system is actually really good when used properly. If you follow a curator their recommendations will start showing up on your homepage, and it's an excellent way to get some hand picked suggestions over algorithmic ones, but Valve lets it fester with bad actors.

I started out pretty AI neutral, aside from the environmental concerns, but I'm, being pushed into hating it more and more because it keeps making things I care about actively worse, and the results keep speaking for themselves in a really bad shitty way.

The story is -incredibly- cynical while also acknowledging that the pursuit of happiness and companionship is ultimately worthwhile and arguably one of the most human things you can do in the face of a world that just wants to take what it can from you Also being too horny will ruin your life lmao

It's also pretty punk, which I like? denji's relationships are entirely shaped by exploitation which is also reflected in the setting as a whole - utilitarianism comes up time and time again in the plot, reflected in the personal sacrifices devil hunters make as well as mass sacrifice by government

All in all its probably one of the better manga series I've personally read, the mix of extreme violence and humour tonally worked for me and I liked how irreverent it was, though what kept me invested was really the interpersonal stuff

im enjoying chainsaw man but it has a really bad habit of making all its characters fun and interesting and then they get unceremoniously killed nonstop I do think it is in service of something though as big themes of the story are emotional manipulation and desensitization to violence

As much as I glazed how arcsys teaches its games, the execution on those can be dry and it can be frustrating to just bash your head on a combo for hours. World Tour is much more palatable for a new player, I just feel like its priorities are skewed
000
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
And it's a shame because SF6 World Tour is a genuinely really neat concept (hell, so neat that RGG seem to be copying it beat for beat for the new Virtua Fighter title), it's nice to gameify learning how to play fighting games, which is important as its a notoriously hard genre to get into
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
This all really drives home that a good tutorial is really difficult to pull off. The ideal is singleplayer content that does introduce FGC fundamentals in a piecemeal way like WT but also does provide the information and feedback that players need to really learn and that's where it fails imo
101
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Ultimately the info does get covered (again with World Tour's general attitude of "figure it out <3" as opposed to actually teaching anything) and it's fine if you're not looking for any kind of technical instruction in the game's mechanics but I can see this leading to bad habits in new players
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Having progressed a bit further, the rate and order at which World Tour introduces very fundamental fighting game knowledge is a little wonky. For instance, it teaches you about animation cancelling before it teaches you about blocking attacks, and it doesn't educate about low block until way later
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
It might get better further in but early impressions are not good, as i've had several lessons now where figuring out what I had to do felt more like guesswork than an actual lesson.
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
So yeah, for teaching you kind of how to play Modern it's fine, but it really fails as a tutorial for really learning the meat of the game imo.
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
This wouldn't be that hard to remedy - track correct or incorrect inputs on the screen and offer suggested moves based on which style you're using. Guilty Gear managed this for every single character on the roster, when you speak to the NPC in WT that teaches you this stuff you have access to 2!
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
And let me be clear that's fine - Modern is by far the more accessible control set, a few years ago I actually had a pretty decent go on SF6 with Modern but I'm someone who wants to learn Classic inputs and World Tour is, frankly, godawful for learning the minutiae that you need to know.
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
That sounds pretty bad right? It's actually not that bad at all IF you're using the modern control scheme - this control scheme takes a lot of the guesswork out of your inputs by design - you don't really have to think about input timing as that's all figured out for you. WT is designed for modern
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
By contrast, Street Fighter 6's world tour tells you some of your moves work and some don't, but have fun experimenting! Did you do it correctly? If you do, a counter goes up. If you don't, no feedback whatsoever. Did you mess something up? Have fun figuring it out, dummy!
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Granblue's practise mode and Guilty Gear's mission mode both have this and it's honestly pretty neat for learning characters. It teaches you little tricks and, most importantly, it gives you immediate feedback on where you're messing up if you pay attention. Is your timing off? Are you misinputting?
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
How would GGST or Granblue handle it? You'd get a list of inputs up on the screen with your choice of notation - if you input the commands correctly and with the right timing the game will progress down the list and confirms when you input the entire string correctly, easy.
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
For example, one NPC you encounter early on tells you that some normals can be cancelled into supers. That's a concept that makes sense to me, however they then tell you that not all supers can be cancelled into. They then tell you to figure it out and refuse to tell you which ones.
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
My main issue that arises is the game makes no real effort to actually tutorialise you in anything. Lessons are delivered via talking to NPCs and being given missions which put you into set fights, however these missions make no actual attempt to explain their concepts to you. Which isn't great!
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
(I suck at charge inputs so I will not be playing as Chun-Li)
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
The game starts you out with Luke's moveset which makes sense - it's relatively straightforward and strike based, the inputs for supers aren't all that difficult and to test players that want something a little meatier, you immediately unlock Chun-Li's in case you want to mess with charge inputs
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I want to learn Street Fighter 6 and so I fired up World Tour as that seems like the intended progression. I opted not to use modern controls as I want to learn the more technical inputs and have greater control over my fighter, and here's where my issues with WT have begun
100
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Which is perfect! Street Fighter 6 is a more complex 6 button fighter as opposed to GGST's 4 button input scheme so it does feel more complex overall. Whether or not one game is "harder" than the other is open to debate that I'm not prepared to have here right now.

First of all, my credentials - I started playing 2D fighting games moderately seriously as of just over 2 weeks ago in preparation for a sajam slam style tournament which I got 2nd place in. Most of my experience is in Guilty Gear Strive and some in Granblue Versus. I am for all intents a noob.

As someone rapidly acclimatising to learning fighting games, I have OPINIONS about Street Fighter 6's World Tour
110
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
I am fully aware pagans also built the colosseum and the Parthenon but these were the "right" kind of pagans for these people - anything greco-roman is based and trad in their minds.
010
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
The one outlier is stonehenge, I genuinely think that's the only monument built by white people that they claim was aliens, and even then I have a pet theory that it's christofascism - pagans built it therefore must be aliens
110
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
notice how those people never say aliens built anything the romans or greeks built, we're not wringing our hands about how they didn't have the technology to build the parthenon however the idea of people putting rocks into a big triangle is suddenly beyond the pale
120
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Do you think the History Channel will ever face up to the fact that the whole ancient aliens conspiracy theory thing is incredibly racist and they probably did the most out of anyone to platform it

GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
It's fine. If you read that as damning with faint praise or a recommendation you'd be entirely correct. If it retails for 50 dollarydoos I wouldn't bother personally.
010
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Not sure I could recommend this to newer fans of the series, the jank that comes with it being so early in the series is still present. It's really one for the oldheads and even then I'd rather get a remaster of DW5, as that's the title where it feels like everything really fell into place
120
GachapanTV @gachapantv.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
My feelings as a whole will depend entirely on how much Koei charges for this. The pricing for their flagship titles can get pretty wacky and I think they're going to charge accordingly for this.
