Just accidentally ordered a vegan breakfast sandwich (didn’t know it was vegan until I saw it). That was…unpleasant. And a waste of 14 dollars. I tried to eat most of it. I got maybe a 1/3 of it. I’ve had fake meat before & that I’m fine with. Egg was alright. But the fake cheese was…wow.

It has been so incredibly hot and humid the past few days. Like you start sweating within 10 seconds of being outside. And then walking back into the nice cool air conditioned house is like whiplash, but you keep sweating for 20 minutes afterwards even once you’re inside.

Protests need to be disruptive, they need to impose costs. Marshalled marches/parades with police permission don’t do that. Chaos and “burning stuff” does. And by the way: “stuff” can’t face violence. *people* face violence. In that sense: only the police have enacted violence in LA and elsewhere.

One of my students asked me at the end of the day if I support LGBT rights. A dangerous question, considering how conservative this town is, & how openly hateful the students are here. Couldn’t tell him I am part of said community (he doesn’t need to know that). I said yes. He gave me a 👍.
