Lanterns has not even been renewed. We may not even get to see a Season 2.

I am a bit dubious that if it was "three years ago" that it was over 10/7. There was a lot of unity on these issues after it happened. The rifts really developed over the next year or two as the war progressed.

I do think that part of the story is that we will see a sharp right turn among Jewish voters who are a decent chunk of the midterm electorate in NY

I mean he does say "it was good vs evil' and calls the Nazis "the greatest evil the world has ever known." I don't think that it's fair to fault him in the moment for not calling up all the reasons that a Nazi victory would have been terrible.

I do think that they should go after the cabinet first, particularly Hesgeth, Kennedy, and Vought. All these guys have enemies in the Republican party, the hearings would expose the corruption of the whole administration, and could potentially split the conservative coalition.

I would also like to know about the flood of transgender girls and women dominating women's sports that polling shows Americans to believe in despite the statistics showing them to be incredibly rare. Will you respect people's lived experiences or the sneering charts of people like Will Stancil?

I thought that Lanterns was really good and Kyle Chandler should win an Oscar if they gave Oscars for this kind of show. But the pacing and plot structure was just way off on the second half including the finale. I think that the flaws are more painful because everything else was so great.

This was partially a bad electoral environment but also national polarization really hitting. It just wasn't possible for candidates to outrun the president by thirty points.

supported her on the primary on this site. Same with AES. I think that we are seeing a lot of voters loose in the socket in the current double haters category and these people are sensitive to candidate. I think that in some blue states the anti incumbent feeling is also directed to the Democrats.

There are a few things going on. I think that in Minnesota the Walz administration is extremely unpopular and Flanagan is legitimate a weak candidate as a result. I would bet on her probably squeaking through but it's a real problem that everyone wants to imagine isn't happening because they 1/2

My ex-husband is one of the rapists at Aella’s simulated rape orgies that John Wentworth, Nate Soares, and I’ve heard Eliezer Yudkowsky also attended. He was an emotionally abusive partner and, until I left EA/rationality, he used the cult to keep me trapped. Journalists please DM.

When I lived in the Bay Area, there were streets with a ton of glass on the ground. Those were the streets where you didn't want to park overnight or have anything in the car, because car thieves would break your window. I think most people can see that this is a failed state. This isn't normal.

I don't think that this is right. I think that the senate was seen as much more of a reach six months ago rather than a median outcome.

The difference between the progressive coalition and the conservative coalition in America is that pro-life groups see this news and say "you got it, throw us under the bus, do what you need to do to win, we're still turning out for you like loyal soldiers"

I think that it works for *us * because we get the references and grew up familiar with the touch points. I don't think that it lands the same way for a teenager today who grew up not immersed in the same conventions and media.

silly. Or the joke at the end of the Flanders episode how next week things will be back to normal or Bart saying "what a strange thing to say.". All humor is dated to some extent but I think that Airplane more than others really depends on being immersed in conventions of the time. 2/2

I don't think that getting the humor in early Simpsons is quite as tied up in understanding the norms of the time but there are still bits that land differently. Like Homer trying to cold cock Barney so he can't drive is still funny but if you haven't seen movies where people do that it just 1/2

There is a lot of clever wordplay where they hit on differences between a phrase's literal meaning and it's conversational meaning but the way people talk has changed enough that it just doesn't land for younger people.

I have though a lot about why so many of the dirtbag left (Greenwald,Taibibi, Tracey) have ended up MAGA adjacent and I think that a big part of it is that the appeal was just being the heroes of the story, sticking it to the powers that be and they hate having to be participants in a coalition 1/2

We are seeing double digit leads in Michigan Governor. I suspect that with a less controversial candidate we would see the same for senate. We are seeing huge leads in PA governor.
