2025 was rough. Learned a lot, improved a lot, but also made a lot of mistakes. I’m here to make 2026 a better one. This one’s personal. An apology to myself. Happy New Year 2026!

Work has been picking up a lot and I’ve had very little time to cook. So this and last weekend I’ve been doing meal prep. I’ve done Chili Crisp Chicken and Korean BBQ Brisket meals. I also did Skirt steak with carne asada dry rub to turn into steak and cheese breakfast burritos.

8 small food containers on a table. Inside each container is a portion of shredded chili crisp chicken mixed with rice and green onions topped with sesame seeds.

10 small food containers on top of a table. They contain rice with Korean BBQ brisket, green onion, and sesame seeds on top.

It's really hard *not* to feel hopeless about the future of localization sometimes. I started out doing pretty decently―not great, mind you, but decently―but it's gotten to the point where it seems companies are just on a race to see how quickly they can get rid of us as quickly as they can.

Fun first day at VCF in Dallas. Lots of people showed up and stopped by. Looking forward to seeing more faces this weekend. I'll be there all day tomorrow (Saturday), as well as Sunday afternoon. Hope to have someone to keep the TV running while I'm absent Sunday morning!

As controversial as the new frosted glass designs from Apple seem, I'm just happy to see things pop again. Corporate minimalism has made everything forgettable.

Since Nintendo won't give it away, we've decided we will instead. Picked up a few copies to giveaway next week on the site, but as a head start, just make sure you're following and repost this for a chance to win one! I'll draw a winner at some point on Sunday. Be aware it's a UK code!

Mario Kart World is kicking my ass in ways I did not expect. The CPUs are all better at leveraging the jump, grind, and wall ride mechanics than me. I look over my shoulder and I see Rosalina grinding on a ridge and can’t even imagine how she got there. Fun to have a new game I can practice :)

boogeymanning everything related to “ai” and boycotting anyone who touches it is going to result in us not being able to use new technology where it’s actually useful moderation of heinous content is soul-sucking, health-destroying work. automating it wherever possible is worthwhile.

Also if you want to see a scene where there's equal chances of a tourney being won by a 12-year-old or a guy pushing fifty, look at fighting games. A genre where every action is counted in milliseconds and individual frames. Don't make excuses. Don't be a sad doomer. Anyone can learn videogames.

Fiddling with some different gacha games this week - tried Nikke for the 5th time, much more playable on PC but the resource wall sucks. Tried to install Heaven Burns Red but it refuses, same with SD Gundam G Generation, weird. WuWa is pretty and kinda fun but also kinda bored with Genshin-likes hrm

I woke up this morning and started watching Melee combo videos again. SilentWolf’s Attack On Top Tier, Ganon on Ice, Johnny B. Goode, I killed Mufasa, etc. I have not played melee in a month and don’t have time for it but the itch is getting real bad.

I'm working with Aklo and foxygrandpa to best honor Hax on Slippi. Hax loved Melee and likely played more Slippi than anyone. It then feels apt to give him a permanent custom ranked profile page. While we work on that though, please use this new free chat message while playing online.
