"Sorry, your game sold millions of copies but our projections said it should have sold at least fifteen trillion for shareholders to be satisfied, so we're going to have to fire all of you. Now watch the news unquestioningly report that your game was a commercial failure. Probably because of woke."

Four easy ways to catch a block from me post- game industry layoffs: 1. Insisting they go start an indie studio (with what funding, my dude?) 2. Trumpeting that you saw it coming (ok who cares) 3. Reminding everyone you didn’t like their last game 4. Obviously, being a dick

Wishing nothing but the absolute worst for every shitheel exec whos choices led to all of the mass layoffs in the games industry over the last decade. Everytime this happens I just know the bastards are riding high in their new porsche as they destroy peoples lives en masse, people they paid poorly

I was a writer at BioWare for 5 years (2011-2016). I leaned a lot during that time from exceptional folx in many disciplines, but also specifically from my fellow writers & our amazing editors, on both the ME & DA brands. Today, not a single one of those writers & editors remains employed there.

A giant middle finger to the studio for how it's treated the people who worked so hard on Dragon Age over the last few years and a second one in particular for how it treated everyone who got caught up in the layoffs/reassignments today and hid behind calling it being 'agile'.

Sincere #ThankYouDADevs to all who have dreamed up, built, and fleshed out Thedas and its characters. The depth and thoughtfulness of these games has brought me a lot of joy and I know myself and many others find them uniquely inspiring. The good you have done ripples out in so many ways. Thank you.

To post about layoffs without directly owning up to the action is disappointingly shitty. If you’re going to do it, be honest. Love my friends at BioWare, they are incredible people that just want to make incredible adventures and have the resources to do it. This isn’t right.

"average apostate mage betrays hero once a Dragon Age game" factoid actualy just statistical error. average apostate betrays mostly 0 times a game. Betrayal Solas, who lives in sad fade land & betrays over 10,000 people each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

We would be okay with less media at our fingertips for pennies. I don’t need streaming access to every musician alive or dead at the cost of the collapse of art. I don’t need a never ending mountain of AI slop at the cost of interesting, weird, human films.

Image of Taash in their underwear reaching for a point of light above their head with their right hand. They are bathed in radiance. Behind them are the stripes of the Trans flag!

Games fail and studios close because of C-suite executives. Not because of the characters in those games, the devs making those games, the community managers for those games, or the POC/queer folks working on those games. Anyone saying otherwise is lying to get your money.

I’ve said this before but it bears repeating. Dragon Age is at its best when it’s not feeling beholden to previous entries, when it’s doing things that are fresh and new. Cameos can be fun but need to be limited in scope.

It's because *work shouldn't be the center of your life*. Nothing should be. Humans need variety and changes in intensity. When everything is an emergency, nothing is an emergency: it's the new normal. We need beauty and pleasure and things to remind us why we fight.
