🚨Dear #Pennsylvania, today is the last day to register to vote in 2026. It is quick and easy. You don't have to register to one party to vote in the general election. It does not make you more likely to be picked for jury duty, but you may receive more mail around October. If you're not sure how […]

List of things that blew my son's mind at #JawnCon on Sunday: 1. If you see a pile of cool stickers on the table that means someone wants you to take one and put it on your stuff. 2. First person shooters were cool even when I was a kid. 3. Lockpicking is easy and fun. 4. If you own a card […]

#jawncon is for the children.
A person in a camouflage jacket and blue pants, holding a drink, is kneeling next to a small robotic dog with a red and gray design. The setting appears to be a busy indoor event, with other people and objects in the background.A child wearing a colorful crochet hat is speaking on a vintage rotary phone at a table with various telephone models. The child is dressed in a camouflage jacket and holding a drink. There are informational signs about the phones on the table. Two individuals are seated at separate desks in a gaming setup. One is wearing a patterned hoodie and a knit beanie, while the other has white hair and is wearing a plaid shirt. They are focused on computer monitors displaying games.A child in a camo jacket is focused on a red tool, working on it at a table filled with various tools and materials. Brightly colored items and a box labeled “fresh limes” are visible in the background.

"Bug #2170556 reported … 23 hours ago" If this wasn't triaged ahead of time with all the advance notice everyone had, my hopes for an uneventful 2038 (tech-wise, as we'll likely be in full 1984 mode by then, globally) are not very high […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
Description:

On October 11, 2026, IANA executed a DNSSEC Key Signing Key (KSK) rollover. systemd-resolved on Ubuntu 24.04 (and likely older releases) relies on compiled-in/hardcoded KSK keys. Following this rollover, Ubuntu 24.04 hosts configured with strict DNSSEC validation (DNSSEC=yes in /etc/systemd/resolved.conf) can no longer resolve domain names.

Impact:

If a system relies on DNS resolution, this issue results in a complete denial of service for DNS lookups. Crucially, because system updates (via apt / unattended-upgrades) rely on DNS to reach package mirrors, affected systems can no longer fetch updates automatically. Systems relying on automatic security updates stop receiving updates entirely, making this a critical issue.
