The thing that really drove this home for me is when a dev responded to a question on twitter and was unaware that the modern Horde had ogres. If someone tasked with writing quests isn't being checked on that, the workflow is broken. It's not about staff, there needs to be structural changes.

I mean the word "bummer" is from 1850's and id still think it was tonally weird and inconsistent if Anduin turned around and said it 2 us its not a hill ill die on, but compare it against the dialogue/tone from the intro/other quests and its out of place so it COULD be deliberate and still poor

Watering the Warcraft IP down to generic fantasy to appeal to a wider audience on some dumb “easier to enter” idea literally just makes the game easier to skip or leave because without the unique fantasy the setting doesn’t really offer anything that games without a subscription do

3 years ago I wanted a world revamp, now I don't think anything would make me permanently quit retail WoW more than it. Yes, ruin Durotar for me. Make every orc say riveting lines like "go with honor and mercy" and "strength, peace, and honor". Make the Tiragarde humans the real heroes of the zone.

The Amani aren't villains now, but they are so compromised they arguably aren't even the same group that people grew attached to prior to MN. They have stronger opinions on Zul'jin than the elves still actively pushing them further to the coast leading up to MN. Neutral husks like everyone else now.

I think what it comes down to is that the TBC version is villainous, but it is authentic to their attitude. They would rather die than change. MN depicts the Amani as completely divorced from their primary conflict and they surrender autonomy to Liadrin within 5 minutes of her talking to ZJ.
