Happy Friday! It’s too hot most places to go outside. Might as well code… (work in progress) #GenArtClub

An excellent reason for sharing intermediate steps & artistic decisions is that it leaves a record of human intentionality. Something that, in these post-artificial times, can’t be taken for granted. Very much a #WIP. This was my first attempt at adding sound. 🔉 #codeart #GenArtClub

Good morning! I’m taking a screen printing class. Behold my first prints ever. 🙂

Orange and purple screen printing of a pond covered in lotus flowers.

I haven’t posted in a while. I have been working on taking those CA disks in a different direction. There’s still a very long way to go, but here’s a recent #WIP. Now using #threejs & #glsl. #generativeart #genartclub #codeart

Ugh. I’m not seeing much generative art in my feed, so I searched for the hashtag and all I got back was AI and most of it was really, really bad. Where are my artist coders at?

Hey friends. Is video uploading broken on Bluesky? I keep trying and it doesn’t even look as if it makes any attempt. Just hangs. Am I doing it wrong? These are originally screen recordings from a Mac and I’m trying to upload from my iPhone. My network is fine AFAIK since everything else works.

Bluesky still doesn’t do animated GIFs. 😢 These pieces move, though you can’t tell from here. See the full collection in all its glory here: www.fxhash.xyz/project/inne...

I don’t have any work of my own to post, but Inner Forms by Ty Vek is amazing. This is 4 generations of an open form “lineage”. The artist really nailed this concept. Evolve your own on @fxhash.bsky.social

That’s a wrap! Color Function is now closed. I’m immensely grateful to the 95 people who collected. It means the world to me at the start of what I hope to be a long, wonderful & fruitful journey. Here’s #23603 minted by Rodrigo Plant

I’m so gratified that “Color Function” has 80 collectors and counting. This is #8113 minted by @teaboswell.bsky.social On a desktop screen, this one is lovely. Minting until June 9. Link in my pinned.

Abstract field of colour made up of a halftone-like grid of dots. Generative art made with JavaScript.

My #fxhash genesis "Color Function" will open for minting tomorrow, June 3, at 13:00 EST. It's a free OE on Base and will be open until June 9th. You can try out the generator here. www.fxhash.xyz/project/colo... Best viewed at a reasonable size. #generativeart

Also, just to be clear, when artists do use AI, it’s highly unlikely that all that’s involved is “a prompt”. Neither generative art nor AI art should be trivialized this way.

fridgebuzz - Vanessa Williams @fridgebuzz.bsky.social · 25/05/2025

It’s quite depressing how many people believe “generative art” or “creative coding” or “algorithmic art” means “AI”. An artist can spend a year or more perfecting an algorithm & bashing out GPU shaders just to have someone ask them what “prompt” they used. Sigh. 😔

Making art keeps me focused on positive things in these crazy, scary times. I hope you like these minimalist abstracts as much as I do. #genartclub #generativeart #codeart

Minimalist abstracts of fields of colour made of layers of small dots in a pseudo-halftone pattern.

I allowed myself to be provoked by some horrible people on X today. I shouldn’t have, but the U.S. war on Canada just made me so angry & anxious, I guess it affected my judgment. The people on here seem so much less awful than the other place. It’s informative without the rage-baiting. So far.

I’m going to finalize the possible compositions and release this collection somewhere. Tedious, but ultimately satisfying. I just heard the term “Liminal Abstraction” and I think it fits well. I was thinking of these as images that have yet to emerge from the viewer’s mind.

What would be beautiful would be Ukraine (with the help of its allies) kicking Russia’s butt so hard they have to retreat and sue for peace. Because then how will Trump feel about his “strongman” idol? Beaten by a much smaller country. I’d love to see it.

What I took from what happened yesterday is that an electricity surcharge was completely justified. Ford caved, and that’s exactly what Lutnick and Trump said. Ford caved because of a Trump tweet. He just made us look weak. There’s no point in another meeting next week.

I’m swearing at GitHub Copilot right now for not being able to write what seemed like a simple enough function despite half a dozen tries using 2 different models. I don’t believe people who say they can “vibe code” whole products. It’s absurd.

To my artist friends and followers I apologize for the political posts. I didn’t make an alt account & don’t have the energy to undo that mistake now. My country is the target of illegal US aggression & I can’t stay silent. Please bear with me. 🙏

Also in this story: 1 in 5 Conservatives want Canada to join the U.S. It rises to 1 in 3 if the Liberals win a majority. Overall 90% of Canadians oppose the idea. What does that say about Conservatives?

WATCH: The gloves are off! It’s been an under-reported scandal for quite a while that Pierre Poilievre refuses to apply for security clearance. It was a scandal EVEN BEFORE the most recent efforts to undermine Canada’s democracy, sovereignty and economy from Trump, Musk and the GOP. Share this.

I like these better. Bigger difference in sizes between dots in each cell. The question remains, though: big dots or little dots? #genartclub

Gm, friends. I recently collected these two pieces on Rodeo. I love it when I see something and think “damn, I wish I could make something like that!” They’re a little “collage” and a little “glitch” and I love them. Cipher and Debris by Vishi. #generativeart #creativecoding
