Unpopular opinion, but a lot of this "doing it right" mentality is how we wind up with games all feeling the exact same. Difficulty spikes, weird controls, ropey onboarding all of it critical to prevent games feeling like they're ground down and pumped out safe mush. www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/s/...

The ONLY problem with Dino Riders is that they had those guys with gun turrets on one side of a dimetrodon’s sail so that from one side enemies couldn’t see them, and then the dimetrodon would turn and BAM! But they used this, their very best idea, in episode 1. There was no way to go but down.

Every time I upload a big pile of garbage to the GTS, I think about whether the research has been done relating Pokemon trades to broader open economies. Then I forget about it and don’t bother searching.

Fresh is uploading 10 Spritzees (pink blob head things)
to the GTS on the mobile version of Pokemon HOME. Most are unnamed, but one is called “Invisicola”.

Fresh is uploading 4 Squirtles, 4 Charmanders and 2 Bulbasaurs to the GTS via the mobile version of Pokemon HOME immediately after a Kanto-based event day.

I very recently finished my OR4M - Final Fantasy Tactics with a beastmaster and 4 monsters. Friday, I’ll probably be back to FF1 with 4 monsters! #FinalFantasy freshfeeling.dreamwidth.org

Silkbottom Mars the Gobbledygook prepares to do 999 damage to the final boss of Final Fantasy Tactics using Bloodfeast. Ramza, Alma, and a King Behemoth are also visible nearby. There’s also a yellow feather at Ramza’s feet.

A party in the original Final Fantasy faces two OGREs, but the party is a Red Dragon, a MAGE, the EYE, and a SORCERER. The EYE is currently casting XXXX on one of the OGREs.

New games weren't scarce in the 90s, but you could've easily played most of the hits. Now there's so many masterpieces that everyone has their personal endless backlog of amazing content. AI slop shouldn't be able to thrive in a market bursting with so many human-made, genuine banger pieces of art.
