#Globalwarming doesn't stop without cutting CO2 emissions. "24 hours for the climate" in Stockholm ended with a huge march to the parliament today. Over 50.000 participants, 280 registered organisations & scientists from all over Sweden sent a kind reminder. The march was non-partisan.

Noctilucent Clouds over Stockholm on 20 July 2026. These Polar Mesospheric Clouds (PMCs) are the highest clouds on Earth at ~80 km altitude. They form from small ice crystals where the water stems from Methane reacting with hydroxyl radicals (OH) + dust particles of unknown origin (micrometeors?)

The heatwave in Sodankylä has now lasted for 26 days. This is probably not only the longest heatwave in Lapland, but also the longest heatwave ever observed in Finland. Note that here a heatwave is defined with 3 consecutive days above 90th percentile, which is scientifically robust definition.

The floods that killed 24 people in Central Europe were caused by rainfall made twice as likely and at least 7% heavier by human-caused climate change 🧵 Floods will become more destructive and costly with further fossil fuel warming 📈🌧️ Our analysis was published this morning.
