I actually have three spare perk points to mine and I don’t know where to allocate. Malaise? Paprika? I was considering speccing into Soft but I’ve already collected all the plushies

Yesterday marked 3 months behind on rent. We have been trying our best, and support so far has helped us not slide further behind but our landlord is getting upset with us. We need £2,900 to break even on it. Please, any help is appreciated. We’re trying. ko-fi.com/foxtrotluna/...

I’ve never noticed a difference in my time! We recently got a boy cat. My previous two cats were girls and he’s more loving than one and less than the other. They all just are their own personalities! He *is* Orange though and that stereotype is true

My partners PIP tribunal finally got a response from the government 7 weeks after the deadline and it could take “several months” for the tribunal to actually go ahead. It’ll likely be a year we’ve been fighting this before we get any result. We’re tired, stressed. Just trying to live..

I saw a couple of reposts come by about some kind of “Decompile of Adobe apps” and I really need you people to click on a profile and read some posts before you do that. Literally scroll down his timeline and read his last 3 posts, and you can see this person deserves 0 credibility. Please.

I need to make another “please help me” post but I’m just so fucking tired. I want to be more than suffering all the time, I miss having nice things to share.

Different protocol entirely but it is on 2.4ghz still! It’s really neat because it’s a mesh network inherently. Anything with direct power acts as a node, battery devices are the only endpoints. Really low power too

My current project is converting my security cameras to be wired rather than wifi, that’ll save at minimum 5 devices. The rest is phones, tablets, and the few smart home things I’ve not switched to Zigbee yet. I’ve done a lot of it on a budget and so wifi is usually cheapest there

110

luna fox winters @foxtrotluna.social · 06/10/2026

I don’t want to talk about it (I’m pro-wired where I can but I do have a lot of devices in the house that use it anyway in a house with 3 adults typically)

A screenshot of the Unifi app, showing 53 devices connected via WiFi. 25 of those on 2.4ghz

I have used game streaming from my Xbox to my Steamdeck in the bedroom, which is close? I actually stream in-network a lot! I have Steamdeck docks in a few rooms to stream from my PC or a console depending on where I’m hanging out. But true cloud streaming? Not often, no.

I have a bunch of home automation stuff and trying to have it wired or Zigbee/thread/matter where possible. It’s nice for my wifi to be less congested…

Finally got some acknowledgement from the DWP about my disability support appeal. They are 7 weeks late responding. They had 6 weeks initially if I remember rightly. Meanwhile we are struggling to survive.

Screenshot reads:

Latest update

DWP has responded to your Personal Independence Payment (PIP) appeal. They should have sent you a copy of their response in the post, unless their response is late and a judge has directed that the appeal can proceed without one. Read their response and send your comments to the tribunal, if you have any.

A tribunal panel made up of a judge, doctor and disability expert will hold a hearing for your appeal. You have told us you do not want to attend so you will receive the decision in the post, after the hearing has taken place. Unfortunately we cannot say how long this will be but it could be several months.

Cohost's Apollo was a small purple unicorn.

Cohost's Twilight Sparkle writes, "i just realized that since a writer's guild strike is happening at the same time everyone thinks chatgpt can be used for everything we're about to see the worst TV and movies ever made" which is followed up a week later with "HERE IT COMES"

PSA for anyone annoyed with iOS 27’s whole drag-to-search AI thing in screenshots, you can turn that off. Go to settings > screen time > content and privacy restrictions > Siri Scroll to the bottom and turn off Extensions You may also want to kill off image generation too while you’re in here.

Oh also Ryzen can take ages for a “first” POST so make sure you’ve tried to just leave it on to re-detect the ram. That’s scared me before because it can take like 10 or 20 minutes on the outside

100

luna fox winters @foxtrotluna.social · 02/10/2026

Did you try in different slots too? I’m going to assume so, but just want to check. Next option is re-seating the CPU because poor contact on the cpu can cause the ram “pins” to not contact and it display a ram issue

Games media is not only unhealthy because there aren't jobs. For years, games media (journalism in general, really) has run on a deeply unhealthy system that incentivized the worst kind of writing and devalued the labor of writers and other creators.

A long time ago I learned not to have any heroes, people I look up to and things like that. I don’t think I have any parasocial relationships because I just don’t put much stock in content creators. But the Jacob Geller thing still stings, like I just wanna enjoy my comfort shows.

Eniko Fox
@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place

OH. right! i get it now!

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes
