The economy we're in now is 100% a result of government/big business backlash to what happened between March 2020 and June 2021. Workers got a little more freedom and secured marginal wage growth and they responded with an all out war on the cost of living. This chart shows the impact of that war:

It shows that the spending of the bottom 90% of income has lost almost 75% of their total savings since mid-2021.
