Meet LEDA 1205871 and LEDA 29228, two galaxies in NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory's view of COSMOS. 🔭🧪 They're “shell” galaxies, created when a larger galaxy absorbs a smaller one. These cosmic ripples preserve clues to past mergers, and Rubin’s sensitivity will help uncover many more 🌌

Ten years ago today was one of the coolest press trips I've ever done, lapping Iceland in an MX-5. I don't tend to do the slidy photos as frankly it's not something I can do repeatably well, but when you're given a gravel hairpin and scenery like this it'd be rude not to.

If you close the pit lane it also solves the problem of being disadvantaged by pitting too early, but then you get ticky-tacky nonsense about last-second dives or "was he committed" and there's less opportunities for strategic improvisation. #formula1

Hot take: aperture sizes are turning into something like the "loudness war" that happened on CDs in the 90s. It's getting silly. f/1.2 on anything longer than 24 mm is just for instagram where the photos are too small to see any subtlety. #photography

IMO people can basically universally and instantly tell that AI is garbage for matters of creativity, and they can ALSO tell that AI is bad at whatever their specialization is. But then they see all these other fields and say, oh, it must be good there, when in reality it sucks evenly for everything
