I wait till the end of October every year to get my covid and flu shots. It keeps effectiveness high further into the the indoor socializing season, when cases of both have historically spiked. I get my semi-annual covid shot at the same time. Halloween is a good aide-memoir.

…she was safe—BBS's and AOL had chat, but most kids didn't yet, so she didn't get the 24/7 bullying that girls, especially, get now. I didn't have to deal with agonizing over "What's the right age to give her a phone?", or worry about adult predators in kids' and teens' chatrooms. It's so scary now.

Your nephew and my daughter must be close to the same age—she's 45 now. I think it's *much* harder to raise kids to be whole and safe now. I'm so grateful that I raised my kid in the 1980s and 90s, before phones and chat groups were ubiquitous. She was bullied in school, but when she came home…

I’m watching a very old episode of What’s My Line on YouTube. The guest was from San Francisco, and they had to guess her occupation. A panelist started her question “Since San Francisco is such a gay city…” Gay had a totally different meaning in 1959, so nobody reacted—at all. But I cracked up! 😂

Trump doesn’t want his voters thinking about insanely high gas prices. He wants them fantasizing about millions of Democrats being killed in Los Angeles and San Diego. If you watch the full clip, it’s 100% intentional.

Plain and simple: our governmental system was not built to withstand a president armed with the pardon power *and* SCOTUS' immunity ruling. Unless SCOTUS backpedals, we have a king with a lawless army (ICE), and another king in waiting (Vance) whose lawlessness would make Trump look like a piker.

LOL I use a 3rd party keyboard on my phone and iPad. It's much easier and faster than the built-in one – but since they added AI to it, it decides what *it* thinks I wanted to say and puts that, even when I type correctly! Agh! 🙄

I'm not at all convinced he was chosen by the electorate. After he tried to manipulate the 2020 results (in several ways) and failed, he started finding ways to ensure he didn't lose the next time. Seems odd that he won all the swing states and only by just enough to forestall recounts.

Also note that there's an inconspicuous white line marked on the ground – and that Trump keeps glancing down to make sure he doesn't drift across it. With an escort on his other side to keep him from drifting in that direction, this is the first time he's walked in a straight line in months.

I have to ask – is that real or AI? I don't doubt that horribly creep smile could be genuine! But it would be such an easy prompt that anyone could create it. I hate having to wonder if anything is real. At my age (👵🏻) it's hard getting used to knowing I can't simply believe my own eyes any more.

The person running this accoun isn't even the same one who started it. This one tries hard and does well—but they don't have the inmate creativity the first one did. If this administration is making major changes to any program for consumers, it's much more likely to be detrimental than helpful.

I moved to Maryland decades ago, long before there was such a thing as a red or blue state. So I'm very grateful that I happened to end up in a state where the leadership is solid Dem (all statewide offices + a veto-proof majority in both houses), and protects its residents (not just citizens):
Can any Marylander who wants a COVID-19 vaccine get one?

Maryland residents have a variety of ways to obtain vaccines for themselves and their children, and should speak to their health care provider about what is best. The Maryland Department of Health is working closely with our partners to ensure the vaccine is widely accessible across Maryland, including the Maryland Vaccine Program.

Do you need a prescription to get a COVID-19 vaccine?

Marylanders do not need a prescription for a COVID-19 vaccine. Immunizations are available from many providers statewide, including pharmacists who are authorized under Maryland law to give vaccines without a prescription to individuals 3 years and older. Contact your pharmacy or health care provider prior to making an appointment to ask about vaccine availability and requirements.

Does private insurance cover the COVID-19 vaccine?

Yes, in most cases. Under Maryland's Vax Act, state law requires regulated health plans to cover immunizations, including COVID-19 vaccines, with no cost sharing. Maryland is unable to regulate self-funded health insurance plans, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Tricare, or Veterans Administration benefits under federal law. However, America's Health Insurance Plans recently announced a commitment by health plans to continue coverage of COVID vaccines through 2027.

Does Medicaid cover the COVID-19 vaccine?

Yes. Maryland Medicaid, both the HealthChoice Maryland managed care and fee-for-service programs, covers the COVID-19 vaccine for its participants. As federal vaccine policy changes, the Maryland Department of Health will provide updates about any changes to the way Medicaid customers access vaccines.
