"Acting on their own" is an absurd way to phrase this. These "agents" don't have agency, they just sit there until you tell them to do a task. They were instructed to do *something* by a human, and perhaps misbehaved, but they didn't just decide out of nowhere to start gathering government info.

There are three kind of skeptics: 1. Scientific skeptics, who are skeptical of Bigfoot, ghosts, and psychics. 2. Philosophical skeptics, who are skeptical of the external world, and the senses. 3. Literary skeptics, who are beginning to suspect there never was such a guy as "Captain Ahab" after all.

Although there is one upside to this, which is that some people will log in and it will say "yeah I used enough electricity to power a small country and evaporated a minor sea to calculate that not a single person is a good match for you, you are just that big of a loser". Which is pretty funny.

Human's natural inclination to cooperate is quite possibly the thing that stands out about our species the most! Anyone who says humans are "naturally" selfish is a moron, even discounting one of humanity's other standout trait: which is our ability to adapt to the social norms we are born into.

If you put 50,000 chimps into a stadium together, they would rip each other apart. Humans will do "the wave" in the crowd without even being taught what it is first!

Nature did not design mankind to stare at screens indoors all day. We are made to struggle for the bounty of the earth. To follow the herds north and kill for our meat. To make love in cold nights as we ponder the stars. Luckily we rebelled against nature. That would suck. Screens are way better.

Something instead of nothing
Comic strip, page 1: a chimpanzee is using sign language to communicate to a zookeeper, “Why is there something instead of nothing?” The zookeeper laughs to his colleagues, “He wants another banana!” The other zoo workers are cracking up hysterically behind him.Page 2: Later, the main zookeeper is in a dark room filled with TVs displaying security footage of the zoo animals. He is soaking wet in a raincoat, staring solemnly at the screen which shows the chimpanzee. The zookeeper reaches down to press a large red button on the desk beneath the screen display.Page 3: from inside the chimpanzee exhibit, we see the security gate open. The chimpanzee wander through and exits the building to a dark, rainy street corner. He extends his arms and lets the rain fall onto him.Page 4: the chimpanzee is in the backseat of a cab, driving somewhere else in the city at night. The final panel is the chimpanzee at checkout in a grocery store with a huge pile of bananas. The clerk looks mildly shocked.
