Zelenskyy: "It is important that the world does not stay silent about this. And it is important that the United States really see what is happening and who is responsible for this war continuing."
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зелен... * @Zelensky. • 2h S ...
A Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv. Once again, no early warning from our partners. The main target was energy infrastructure, specifically CHPP-
4. Unfortunately, it was hit. A residential building was also damaged, and rescuers are currently putting out a fire there. Our systems detected these missiles only when they were already virtually on approach to Kyiv. CHPP-4 is one of Kyiv's key energy facilities.
According to our intelligence, the Russians are preparing further ballistic missile launches. The facts show that the Russians do not consider themselves bound by what the President of the United States said. Ukraine supported an energy ceasefire. Russia is targeting yet another power plant and the lives of our people. And this is absolutely unjust: when they are destroying our energy infrastructure, and Ukraine is not even receiving early warnings about ballistic missile launches. It is important that the world does not stay silent about this. And it is important that the United States really see what is happening and who is responsible for this war continuing.
Please stay safe tonight and tomorrow. We are working to replenish our air defenses with anti-ballistic missiles.

Judge Cooper has denied an emergency hearing. Requires a "detailed status report" next Wednesday (after one week of closure). Will allow discovery on Trump's "Kennedy Center DEMOLISHED" document (which sounded like a meme printout provided by Bill Pulte). They've bought themselves another week.

Beatty's reply to DOJ's filing this morning is in: www.courtlistener.com/docket/72069... Interesting points: * Where (& when) did the barricades come from? Indicates planning. * The gift shop moved to the REACH. Lot of work for a week. * Ceiling tile drop was 12 days ago & cordoned off. What's new?

I really feel like this should catch on. A clique of agents we keep in jails? What else would you call it but a clink of clankers?

Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.
Mother Jones

"In today's society, you know, everybody's filming everything, everybody has a cell phone," Glueck said. If an officer punches someone on camera, that can go viral in an instant; even a standard taser leaves puncture wounds. But "the glove is low optic, and it looks better on camera, and it looks better to those witnesses. With a glove, there are no burn marks or scars."But local police across the country are still eagerly buying the gloves—in large part so that they can harm people and avoid being sued for it. It's been successful "from the patrolmen to the jailers," Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said in a Compliant Technologies promotional video. "It's been a great tool as far as mitigating liability," according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.
Bob Couey of the Floyd County Sheriff's Department sung the GLOVE's praises, too: "I highly recommend these gloves to anybody that's looking for a utility they can use that is conducive to not leading to lawsuits."

This is absolutely WILD. Here's the dashboard video posted by @fritschner.bsky.social. Fast forward to about 1 minute. An ICE officer jumps out of a van and pulls a gun on this woman immediately before lying and claiming she "almost ran us over." *profanity warning if watching in public.

This is stupid. People wanted a (*a*, not *this*) POTUS to die with a bunch of journalists & staffers? That Trump didn't Truth about how he outwitted the Iranians suggests they didn't want this publicized. I don't want a USSS that does anything but maximize POTUS survival. Exposing himself, however…

@rparloff.bsky.social @annabower.bsky.social Didn't Pirro blatantly lie in her Hearn dismissal? I'm not seeing it reported anywhere, but it seems like that would be significant!? Either @normeisen.bsky.social tried to deceive the court or Pirro did. What am I missing? bsky.app/profile/flor...

I haven't seen this reported anywhere, but isn't this an outright lie filed by Pirro that completely undermines her argument it was all DOI's fault!? Am I missing something? (😤 about the typos)

This is the wrong approach with a high chance of failure and an uncertain timeline. The focus should be on civil liability, which can be put in place on January 3rd, be applied retroactively, can't be pardoned, and could result in consequences on the 4th if enacted. 1/16

it's actually true that you cannot fund good government entirely by taxing the rich, which is why slopulist proposals to gut the tax base are a bad idea but taxing the rich at punitive levels is a goal in and of itself, billionaires are simply too dangerous to public policy to exist

@juand-r.bsky.social Is there a reason @jlake9.bsky.social doesn't use xcancel.com? The practical advantages are one can see threads and replies w/o needing an account. There are also privacy/philosophical benefits. Are there disadvantages that make it unacceptable for your use case?

Not sure how long this can hold.
Selfie of me with a cat in a backpack staring over my right shoulder while a large, blurry cat face presumably on my lap fills the lower right quarter of the image.

The checkpoint officer fires 3 shots, all missing the runner and two right at other LEO. The SS agent reacts like the 3rd or a ricochet of the 2nd hits him in the gut. He holds his midriff with his left hand even as he is drawing his gun. Hard to tell from footage and I haven't seen it addressed.

CBS obtained video of the DHS killing of an unarmed man in Texas that DHS concealed for nearly a year, which clearly contradicts claims that he violently rammed anyone. He is shot with his brake lights on, car not moving or barely moving. Another DHS crime.

@aeronautapp.com what are the chances this becomes a universal app? It looks like you have quite the feature backlog already, but I'd like to be able to standardize on a client that preserves timeline positions. I'm deciding between this or holding out for @phoenix.tapbots.com.

Finally got around to a bit of research I'd been meaning to explore, and: There is no documented instance of an ICE officer being identified and assaulted while off duty because he wasn't masked. www.pbump.net/o/ices-excus...

ICE’s excuse for wearing masks has never actually manifested
There have been incidents of harassment and threats. But there are no apparent incidents in which identified ICE officers have been assaulted off-duty.

Turns out the "illegal" pregnant woman was a US citizen, and she's since been hospitalized.
Shitbag tweet: Illegal in Hawthorne, California, is arrested for deportation. Angry protesters demand ICE releases her because she’s pregnant.

Being pregnant doesn’t exempt women from following the law.

And if this pregnant woman cared at all about her baby she would’ve self-deported.A pregnant U.S. citizen went to the hospital after immigration agents detained her
Cary López Alvarado, who's nine months pregnant, said that after being released from immigration custody she experienced sharp stomach pains and was hospitalized.

If Abrego Garcia is a member of MS-13, then why are they paying him for his services?
From the Abrego Garcia indictment: "[MS-13] also paid him for his transportation services."

It's all based on one cooperating witness, CC-1, the owner of the vehicle A.G. was driving in TN, who has been given limited immunity. The MS-13 accusations are because CC-1 says MS-13 members they smuggled wouldn't pay CC-2 but would pay A.G. and "generally treated [him] with respect."

@kenwhite.bsky.social Can you look at highlighted bits? 1. Yes and No checked for defendant in custody. Mistake or could they be playing games re: constructive custody? 2. "Arrested" checked & doc filed 5/21. Has he been in US LEO custody? 3. Warrant issued, but no Magistrate Judge. Typical?
Highlights fields in the Abrego Garcia indictment.
"Is the defendant in custody? Yes [X] No [X]"
"Was the defendant arrested on the complaint? Yes [X]"
"If [search warrant issued]: Name of the Magistrate Judge: [blank]"
